Hello, this is Director Yang Moon-young of AB Plastic Surgery.
I will answer the questions you have been wondering about.
Q. How long does it take for a scar to disappear after double eyelid surgery with an incision method?
A. Double eyelid surgery performed with the incision method involves directly incising the skin, so a scar may remain after surgery.
However, scars gradually fade over time, and in many cases they naturally disappear.
In general, swelling and bruising are most severe during the first 1-2 weeks after surgery, and then they gradually begin to subside.
Sutures are usually removed after about a week, and from that point, the scar begins the healing process.
It usually takes about 3 to 6 months for the scar to fade to the point where it is barely noticeable.
In particular, some people may experience faster fading depending on their constitution,
but if you are constitutionally prone to keloids, the scar may remain for a long time.
After stitch removal, regularly applying scar ointment and avoiding ultraviolet rays are good ways to manage scars.
It may take about 6 months to 1 year to become completely natural.
Especially in the early stage, when the incision line appears red, it will gradually change to a color similar to the surrounding skin over time.
If you are concerned about scarring after surgery, you may also consider ways to improve it more quickly through scar laser treatments, and so on.
I hope this answer was helpful.
If you have any other questions, please leave them in the comments and I will answer them.
Thank you.
