Hello, this is AB Plastic Surgery!
Today, together with Director Ahn Moon-young, we prepared this post with the hope that it will be helpful for those considering incision double eyelid correction surgery, as we look at the before-and-after changes of a patient who had concerns about heavy eyelids and asymmetry.
Concerns about heavy-feeling eyes & asymmetry
The eyes always felt heavy.
The eyelid skin was thick and there was a lot of fat.
There was sagging skin on the outer side, and the patient wanted to address it.
The forehead muscles were used a lot. In particular, the right forehead muscle was used more.
Because of the difference in strength between the left and right forehead muscles, asymmetry in the eye shape also developed.
Currently, there is no double eyelid fold.
The brow bone is also slightly prominent.
The dark iris was largely covered by the skin, creating a tired impression.
Preferred subtle double eyelid line
We designed a subtle double eyelid line that would naturally suit eyes without a fold, planning for a clear yet not overdone impression.
The line was made to flow naturally from the inner to the outer part of the eye,
and eyelid correction was also performed to improve the sleepy appearance caused by weak eye-opening strength.
In addition, because the inner corner of the eyes was somewhat covered and gave a cramped impression, an inner corner epicanthoplasty was performed as well.
It was opened only moderately so that the natural look was maintained while the cramped appearance could still be improved.
AB Plastic Surgery weekly progress

Male eye surgery, 1 week

Male eye surgery, 2 weeks

Male eye surgery, 1 month
After the surgery, the balance between both eyes improved, and from the front, the impression became much sharper and cleaner.
As the subtle double eyelid line settled in, the eyes naturally looked more defined, and through eyelid correction, the exposure of the dark iris improved, removing the sleepy look.
Also, by performing the inner corner epicanthoplasty in a moderate way, the cramped inner corners of the eyes were opened up without an artificial look, adding depth and openness to the eye shape.

Before and after, 3 months after male eye surgery
The patient had a cramped and tired-looking impression due to having no double eyelid fold,
but through a subtle double eyelid line, inner corner epicanthoplasty, and eyelid correction, a more natural and refreshing male eye shape was completed.
As the surgeon in charge, I am also satisfied with the result and feel rewarded.

Before and after, 3 months after male eye surgery
For men, if the double eyelid line is made too large, it can look unnatural, so it is important to combine a subtle double eyelid, appropriate inner corner epicanthoplasty, and eyelid correction according to the structure of the patient's own eyes. In particular, even if the inner corner epicanthoplasty is not opened widely, it can greatly help relieve the cramped feeling at the inner corners and create better overall balance in the eye shape.
The left side is the pre-op photo and the right side is the current photo at 3 months, and because no trace is visible even when the eyes are closed, it looks even more natural.
Because the causes of eye asymmetry or a sleepy-looking impression can vary,
rather than worrying alone, it is necessary to establish a customized surgical plan through an accurate diagnosis by a dedicated plastic surgery medical professional.
We recommend visiting AB Plastic Surgery for a consultation.
