Hello, this is Director Lee Dong-han of AB Plastic Surgery.
I will answer some of the questions you have been curious about regarding nose surgery.

Q. Nose surgery: When do you choose implants vs. no implants?

- Cases where implants are used

In almost all nose surgeries, implants are used except for the no-implant cases explained below (when implants cannot be used or when there is no need because the bridge is already high). If no implant is inserted, the bridge of the nose cannot be raised, and when autologous tissue or donated dermis is used instead of an implant, it is very difficult to create the desired bridge height or shape with these materials.

2. Cases where no-implant surgery is performed

- When the patient is uncomfortable with implants
When there are concerns about discomfort, inflammation, contracture, or visibility through the skin

- When the nasal bridge is already high and the nasal tip is drooping
In this case, an implant is not necessary. Since there is no need to raise the bridge any further, only the nasal tip is corrected to match the bridge.

- When the skin is too thin
If the bridge is raised with an implant, the skin may become even thinner, so in some cases an implant is not used or is replaced with autologous tissue.

I hope this was helpful in answering your questions.
