Hello.
I’m Shin Seung-han, Director of Mams Plastic Surgery Clinic.
Why do both men and women
obsess over beautiful breasts?
It cannot simply be explained as being due to sexual desire,
because no one describes the important parts
of either women or men as beautiful.

An emotion formed in infancy?
First, we can think that this feeling comes from
the sense of fullness provided by a mother’s breasts,
through an infantile regression phenomenon.
But this is an interpretation of desire,
and it is difficult to say that
it is an aesthetic analysis of breasts.

Of course, the way we perceive something
as beautiful is highly subjective.
But beauty
does clearly have objective aspects.
Otherwise, there would be no works of art
that everyone recognizes as beautiful.

Then, based on these objective
properties of beauty,
'Why women’s breasts are considered beautiful'
let’s take a look at that.

Objective standard of beauty ① Small size
Women have smaller frames than men,
and are generally more beautiful than men.

Objective standard of beauty ② Smooth surface
One requirement of beauty is smooth skin.
One reason people like jade, beads, marble, crystal, and the like
is that they enjoy a smooth, glossy texture.

Objective standard of beauty ③ Curved contours
Curves are more beautiful than straight lines.
Rather than a face with straight contours,
we tend to find a soft, round face beautiful.

Objective standard of beauty ④ Fragility
The last one is fragility.
Beauty is often fragile.
Women are more delicate than men,
and among animals, birds, rabbits, deer, and so on
are relatively delicate.

Smooth and soft skin
Natural, gently rounded curves
Fragility that feels like it could burst if touched
Meeting these conditions
is what
'women’s breasts'
may be.

In addition, the non-geometric form
created by women’s breasts,
where even the smallest parts are not exactly the same
and are not standardized,
is what bewilders men.

If I say that my profession is
performing breast reduction surgery,
I am often met with complaints from many men,
who ask why I reduce them
instead of enlarging them if surgery is needed.
But beauty is based on
a proper size.

No matter how pretty a rose is,
if it were as huge as a pumpkin flower,
no one would describe it as beautiful.

I hope you will see women’s breasts
not merely as objects of desire,
but as objects of beauty.
Thank you.
