Hello.
I’m Lim Jin-young, CEO doctor of Piap Clinic.
Have you had eye surgery,
but the results were different
from what you expected,
leaving you disappointed?
At first, you may have thought,
“Maybe I’ll get used to it.”
But even after time passes,
you may still not feel satisfied
and start considering revision surgery.
However, I want to say that
you should avoid making that decision
simply because you “want to look prettier.”
That’s because revision surgery is
an intricate process that must
consider the function and structure
of the area involved.
“Has the strength of the eyelid muscles
weakened?”
“Has scar tissue hardened due to the
previous surgery?”
There are so many things
to consider.

That’s why you need to choose
more carefully than you did
for the first surgery.
“Then in what cases is
revision surgery necessary?”
“How should I find a place
that is good at eye revision surgery?”
For those of you with questions like these,
I prepared today’s post.
It’s not a long read.
I hope you can read it slowly
and find the answers you need.

Eye revision surgery clinic,
start by checking whether it is really necessary
When people have plastic surgery,
they naturally expect a clear and beautiful eye shape.
But sometimes the result
comes out differently than expected.
Because of this, the face may look awkward
every time you look in the mirror.
You may also feel discomfort when opening
and closing your eyes.
At that point, it may be time to consider
revision surgery.
In general, the need can be divided
into three categories.
- When asymmetry occurs
After surgery,
if the sizes of the two eyes differ,
or the shape is asymmetrical?
The balance of the face may look awkward.
For example, let’s say that during the first surgery,

a patient had a double-eyelid line
set fairly high.
But as time passed,
one side was maintained well,
while the other side loosened.
As a result, the difference between the left and right sides may look larger.
In such cases, even makeup may not make the balance look right,
which can become a concern.
In these cases, revision surgery can be used
to match the lines on both sides
and create natural symmetry.

- When functional problems occur
Eye plastic surgery is not only about aesthetics,
but also about function.
If your eyes do not open properly after surgery,
or you constantly feel a foreign-body sensation?
That may be more than simple discomfort;
it could be a functional issue.
For example, if eyelid correction was done too aggressively
and the eyes became excessively wide,
there is a possibility that dry eye symptoms
will worsen.
If you were already someone whose eyes dry out easily,
symptoms may become more severe after surgery.
If blinking becomes uncomfortable
or you tire easily because of that?
It may be necessary to consider
functional correction.
In such cases, it is important to choose a method
that helps restore function in the area
while also keeping the eyes comfortable.

If the eyes do not close well,
a revision correction procedure can be used
to adjust the eyelid position.
If necessary,
you may also consider punctal occlusion.
This is a method that blocks the pathway through which tears drain,
helping to maintain moisture.
- When it looks unnatural
People are more satisfied when plastic surgery
looks natural.
But sometimes after surgery,
it may look artificial,
or the eye shape may feel awkward
and difficult to get used to.
For example, let’s say there was a patient
who was concerned about prominent under-eye fat.
But the fat was removed too excessively.
At first, they may have been satisfied
because the area looked flatter...
But as time passed,
the lack of fat may have made the area look sunken,
or the overall balance of the face may have looked off.

In such cases, adjusting it into a natural shape
that harmonizes with the facial structure
may be the solution.
As you can see from the three cases above,
deciding on revision surgery is never a light matter.
If the first surgery was not satisfactory,
it is important to first understand exactly
why that result happened.
You must decide carefully,
considering both naturalness and functional comfort.
If, right now, you are looking in the mirror
and wondering,
“Is this just a matter of getting used to it,
or do I need to do it again?”
I hope you will get enough consultation
with a medical professional.

Eye revision surgery clinic,
how should you find one?
In fact,
there is almost nothing as difficult as this question.
The first surgery is hard enough,
and after one failure,
you need to be even more careful
when looking for another clinic.
Even so, if I had to choose one important standard,
I would recommend first looking at whether
they have extensive revision surgery experience.
Why is experience important?
Because revision surgery is completely different
in difficulty from the first surgery.

At first,
you can design on clean tissue as planned,
but revision surgery is not like that.
Because the surgical site has to be corrected again,
you must consider variables such as adhesions,
scar tissue, and tissue damage.
For example,
it is the difference between building a new house
and remodeling one.
With a new house,
you can design and build it as you want,
but with remodeling,
you have to analyze the existing structure
and solve the problematic areas.
That is why experience is so important.
So how can you check this?

Check whether the medical staff carefully examine
the condition of the eyes
and accurately point out the current problems.
This is something that can be learned
through years of experience.
For example, if you say,
“Double eyelids are too high, and it looks awkward.”
and they respond,
“The opening force of the eyes may be insufficient,
so as compensation,
the double-eyelid line may appear higher.
In that case,
it would be natural to perform eyelid correction together,
rather than simply lowering the line.”
A clinic that explains the cause and solution
in detail like this
would be more trustworthy, wouldn’t it?
So when choosing an eye revision surgery clinic,
don’t just look at reviews or popularity.
Please carefully examine the medical team’s experience
and the consultation process.

For this, I recommend getting consultations
from at least two or three clinics.
There is nothing more reliable
than experiencing it yourself.
Today, I wrote this post for those of you
who are looking for a place that is good at eye revision surgery.
I hope it was helpful, even a little.
This was Lim Jin-young,
CEO doctor of Piap Clinic.
Thank you.
