Brow Lift Surgery?
Criteria for Choosing an Eye-Focused Plastic Surgery Clinic

Hello.
I’m Lim Jin-young,
CEO and chief surgeon of Piaf Clinic.
Where does a person’s impression begin?
People often think first of the eyes or the nose, but in fact, what catches the eye before anything else is the eyebrows.
Depending on whether this area is positioned naturally and clearly, the overall atmosphere of the face changes.
But here’s the thing.
As we age, the eyebrows gradually lose their position.

As the elasticity of the forehead decreases,
and the eyelids droop heavily...
It creates an impression as if everything is slowly sinking downward.
This is actually a change in anatomical structure.
That’s why more and more people are considering brow lift surgery these days.
But once you decide to have surgery, another concern comes up.
“Since it’s around the eyes,
can I really have it done at just any clinic?”
That concern is completely understandable.
That’s why the most important thing is choosing a trustworthy “eye-focused plastic surgery clinic.”
In this post, I’ll explain the criteria people considering this surgery should use when choosing a clinic.
If you read to the end,
I’m sure the selection criteria that once felt vague will become much clearer.

A surgery that lifts the eyebrow position upward?
It’s not just cosmetic
When people hear “brow lift surgery,” most think like this.
“Isn’t it just slightly lifting the eyebrows upward?”
But in reality,
it’s a much more complex and meaningful process.
It’s not simply about raising the position of that area.
It involves the entire structure above the eyes.
In other words, it adjusts the sagging skin and muscles together to address both functional and aesthetic issues at the same time.
Let me explain with an analogy.
The eyebrows are like a curtain rod.
But as time passes and the curtain rod gradually sags,
wouldn’t the fabric below it also start to hang down?
Our eyelids are the same.
When the eyebrows droop downward,
the skin of the eyelids below also begins to sag.

As a result, the field of vision narrows,
and you keep straining every time you try to lift your eyelids.
Over time, deep forehead wrinkles form,
and the eyes become easily fatigued.
Some people even experience chronic headaches.
That’s because when opening the eyes, you don’t just use the muscles that lift the eyelids; the forehead muscles are forced to work hard as well.
This is not just a cosmetic issue,
but a situation accompanied by functional problems too.

So when should you consider brow lift surgery?
-
When the area sags and the double eyelid begins to disappear
-
When the eyelid skin folds in multiple layers and forehead wrinkles deepen
-
When your vision is repeatedly obstructed and you end up raising your forehead
-
When upper blepharoplasty or double eyelid surgery alone does not solve the problem

For example, even after double eyelid surgery,
if the eye shape still feels heavy or uncomfortable,
or if the two sides look asymmetric?
It may be because one eyebrow itself has drooped more than the other.
In such cases, simply removing skin from the eyelid is not enough; the upper structure must be adjusted for a fundamental improvement.
There are also various surgical methods.

One method uses endoscopy through the inside of the hairline to lift the entire forehead.
There is also a method that makes an incision directly above the eyebrows.
Because of this, a customized approach is needed depending on the patient’s skin type, eyebrow position, and wrinkle condition.
Most importantly, what matters is receiving an accurate diagnosis of which method is right for you.

Just because the eyelids sag doesn’t mean you should automatically create a double eyelid.
You need to look at the overall surrounding structure together to achieve truly satisfying results.
So what kind of clinic should you choose?
Eye-area surgery is much more complex and delicate than people think.
Beneath the eyelids are the orbicularis oculi muscle, which helps you close and open the eyes, and the frontalis muscle, which lifts the eyebrows.
And muscles such as the temporalis muscle, which controls tension from the side, are all interconnected.

In addition, blood vessels, nerves, and lymphatic channels are spread throughout the area in a complex way.
If even a little too much is manipulated, the eye shape can look unnatural.
On the other hand, if too little is adjusted, the result may feel like, “Why does it hardly look different?”
So it should not end with simply making things look pretty.

Only when you consider visual field improvement, eye movement, and even the habitual use of the forehead muscles can it truly be called a well-done surgery.
That’s why I want to emphasize this.
You should receive a consultation at an eye-focused plastic surgery clinic that properly understands anatomical structure and looks at both aesthetics and function.

So how can you find such a place?
When you consult, be sure to check the following:
First, “Do they evaluate function as well as design?”
For example, whether the eyelids open well, or whether you are opening your eyes by overusing the forehead muscles.
In other words, do they analyze the entire movement, not just the size of the eyes?
And “Do they explain the differences and necessity among double eyelid surgery, ptosis correction, and brow lift surgery separately?”

Not a place that simply says to do everything.
It should be an eye-focused plastic surgery clinic that explains why a certain method is needed based on your condition.
Lastly, “Do they provide enough explanation about post-surgical scars or changes in sensation?”
The area around the eyes is very sensitive.
Because of that, sensation may temporarily become dull after surgery.
A clinic that explains this in advance and tells you how to manage it is a truly responsible one.

These criteria may feel a little strict.
But the eyes are the window through which we see the world and express emotions, right?
Even a slight awkwardness can change your expression and make your vision uncomfortable.
So rather than a place that only says, “We’ll make you look pretty,”
I hope you choose an eye-focused plastic surgery clinic that also thinks with you about how to create comfortable, natural-looking eyes.
That’s because the result will be more satisfying and longer lasting.

Up to now, for those considering brow lift surgery,
I’ve offered advice on what kind of eye-focused plastic surgery clinic to choose.
If this has given you even a small clue for a concern you’ve carried for a long time, that is enough.
