Hello.
I’m Lim Jin-young,
Chief Director of Piap Clinic in Jamsil.
“I’ve heard a lot of people say I look sleepy because of dark circles..”
“The fat under my eyes makes me look older,
and my expression seems dull..”
You probably searched for Jamsil under-eye fat repositioning because of concerns like these.
However, there is something many people misunderstand
about this procedure.
It’s the approach.
“Doctor, doesn’t under-eye fat repositioning
require an incision in the skin?”
Half right, half wrong.

That’s because there are two
approaches for repositioning fat.
The first is the method of making an incision in the skin under the eye,
and the second is the method of making an incision inside the conjunctiva.
The second method is called the
“transconjunctival incision method.”
Because the incision is made inside the conjunctiva,
there is the advantage that no scar is visible on the outside.
Also, because no knife is used on the skin,
there is less pain and bruising,
and the recovery period is relatively quick.
In this post, I’ll explain the
“transconjunctival incision method” in detail.

If you’re worried, “What if a scar remains later?”
The following information will be very helpful when deciding on surgery.
So from here on, please focus and read for just 3 minutes.
Transconjunctival incision method?
What’s the difference?
You’re not getting it done without knowing the ㄱㅁ ㅈㄱㅂ, right?
The transconjunctival incision method uses
the conjunctiva on the inside of the eyelid.
As mentioned above,
it does not involve incising the skin.
That’s why the term “non-incisional”
is also used.
The principle is as follows.
The eyelid is turned inside out, and a 1–2 cm incision is made in the conjunctiva on the inside to create an opening.

This opening is used to 접근 under the eye.
The protruding fat is moved to the surrounding area,
and in the end, the under-eye area is refined so that it becomes flat.
You can think of it as smoothing out uneven ground.
Compared with the method that incises the skin,
there are several advantages.
Of course, results vary by person,
but swelling and bruising improve within 1–2 weeks.
It takes about 2 weeks for a natural recovery.

Unlike the method that directly incises the skin,
the average recovery is about 2 weeks faster.
Transconjunctival incision method?
It is not the right answer for everyone.
Jamsil under-eye fat repositioning: You’re not getting it done without knowing the ㄱㅁ ㅈㄱㅂ, right?
“Then it would be better to get the transconjunctival incision method, right?”
I think some of you may jump to that conclusion.
As a practicing doctor,
I’ll be honest.
The transconjunctival incision method
is not the right answer for everyone.
That’s because the condition of the tissues around the eyes
differs from person to person.

For example,
if you are in your 20s or 30s,
and only the fat under the eyes is protruding,
with no sagging of the surrounding skin or muscle?
Then only fat repositioning
and suturing of the “orbital septum” are needed.
“Doctor,
what is the orbital septum?”
The orbital septum is like a fence that holds the fat around the eyes in place.
Just as a fence can wobble or collapse when it loosens,
when the orbital septum weakens,
fat begins to bulge under the eyes.

On the other hand,
if you are in your 40s and, in addition to protruding under-eye fat,
the surrounding skin and muscle are also sagging,
what then?
Along with fat repositioning,
a “lower blepharoplasty” that removes and sutures the stretched muscle and skin as needed may be necessary.

What approach do I need?
You’re not getting it done without knowing the ㄱㅁ ㅈㄱㅂ, right?
By now, you may have reached this conclusion.
“Doctor,
which method is better for me?”
The answer I can give is simple.
Visit a clinic in Jamsil that performs under-eye fat repositioning and get examined in person.

If possible, visit at least 3 places.
As you get examined at multiple clinics,
you’ll begin to get a sense of whether they pay attention to details such as
the degree of eyelid sagging, muscle thickness,
fat distribution, and even the overall impression and atmosphere after surgery.
That’s all I prepared.

I sincerely hope this was helpful for those looking into Jamsil under-eye fat repositioning,
