The eye structure you should understand first to find the cause of a bulging under-eye area
To look into the related causes, you first need to understand the structures around the eye. Looking at the face’s structure, the floor directly beneath the space where the eyeball sits is made of hard bone.
If there were nothing there and only the eyeball were inside, your eyes would hurt too much.
That is why orbital fat is spread out along the floor to protect the eyeball.
In simple terms, you can think of it as the eyeball resting comfortably on a bed made of fat.
Causes of a bulging under-eye area
However, if the orbital fat that lies beneath the eyeball and protects it is pressed by the eyeball for decades, there is no space for the fat behind the orbital bone, so the fat is eventually pushed forward, making the under-eye area look bulged.
In addition, in front of the fat, there is a tough tissue called the orbital septum that helps keep the fat from protruding. But over time, as the orbital fat located inside repeatedly presses on the orbital septum and then releases it, the orbital septum becomes loose and stretched, making the under-eye area look bulged.
If you look at the protruding appearance, you can see that it is all rounded. The reason is the shape of the bone. The orbital septum is firmly attached to the bone and protrudes upward, so it takes on a rounded shape.
Under-eye fat repositioning
The two causes mentioned above. In other words, the surgery that repositions the fat centered on the orbital fat and tightens and fixes the orbital septum is the under-eye fat repositioning procedure commonly performed at Objet Plastic Surgery.
