Hello, and good day as always. This is Objet Plastic Surgery.
It already feels like the year is coming to a close. November is almost over, and December is approaching. When it feels like the end of the year is near, people often look back on the year that has passed, but middle-aged people in particular often start by looking at their faces, thinking about getting a year older.
Perhaps for that reason, inquiries about "lower blepharoplasty" tend to increase as the end of the year and the New Year approach. Today, we have prepared a post about side effects of lower eyelid lower blepharoplasty.

If you are considering lower blepharoplasty but are worried, please pay close attention.
I want lower blepharoplasty,
but these are the 4 reasons I hesitate
Concerns about side effects of lower eyelid lower blepharoplasty
- I'm worried my eye will turn outward.

When people have surgery under the eyes, they often worry that the lower eyelid will turn outward. The reason the lower eyelid turns outward can be seen as a failure to properly strengthen the muscle.

During surgery, the muscle is dissected and the sagging part is firmly fixed to the outer bone. However, if the muscle strength is insufficient, the tissues of the midface area below, or the reattached dura and periosteum on the inside, should be fixed again and lifted upward enough for a lifting effect.
If this is not done smoothly, a strong downward force is applied, causing the eye to turn outward. In such cases, even if a few fine wrinkles remain, the skin should be trimmed with enough allowance, and through fixation or lifting, the area should be given better support to prevent ectropion.
There may be differences from person to person, but in the case of skin, some degree of contraction occurs during the healing process after surgery, so it is okay to remove it with some allowance.
- I'm worried there will be a scar.

In the case of lower blepharoplasty, the sagging skin must be removed
to make the under-eye area firm. Because an incision is
made, a scar is unavoidable, but this scar remains as a parallel line and takes on the same shape as one of the many wrinkles that form at the outer corner of the eye.

Since everyone has wrinkles at the outer corner of the eye, patients who know there is a scar there may see it as a scar themselves, but when others look at it, they often assume it is a natural wrinkle and do not notice it.
Also, at Objet, we know that patients are concerned about scars,
so we are stitching more carefully and making efforts to minimize them.
Side effects of lower eyelid lower blepharoplasty can be sufficiently prevented in advance.
- I'm worried the bulging will come back.

In this case, the cause is usually the fat area.
Accordingly, the muscles and the front fixation must be done properly, and the fat must also be moved and fixed well, but if the fixation sometimes comes loose, it can reappear.

In the case of Objet Plastic Surgery, to prevent these side effects, we perform subperiosteal dissection and apply more than five fixation points to prevent the fat from coming out again.
- I'm worried my cute cheek folds will disappear.

Lower eyelid repositioning goes behind the eye, so it does not damage the muscle. However, lower blepharoplasty is intended for people with significant muscle sagging and skin sagging, so the muscle must be excised during surgery. Therefore, it cannot be said that there is no effect on it.

But they do not necessarily disappear.
At Objet, to prevent this, if the cute cheek fold is insufficient at the end of surgery,
the muscle may be layered to minimize loss of the cute cheek fold, and if the outer eye area sags and becomes a problem, the outer eye area is pulled up more, while the center is preserved as much as possible so that more of the orbicularis oculi muscle remains,
and the procedure is performed in a way that minimizes the effect on the cute cheek fold.
So far, we have looked at the four concerns about side effects of lower eyelid lower blepharoplasty for those who want the procedure but are worried about it.

Was this helpful? People often say it is a very simple surgery, but even if it is simple, surgery is still surgery, so we recommend consulting with an experienced specialist.
