What Are the Types and Effects of Stem Cell Injections?
I’ll Explain It Simply (Answer from a Plastic Surgeon)
Hello, this is Objet Plastic Surgery.
You’ve probably heard of “stem cells” at least once, right?
Even people who are not interested in beauty treatments likely know about stem cells.
Stem cells are widely used in medicine and regenerative medicine. They are also actively used for health and beauty purposes.

However, although many people know that stem cells are beneficial, there are many who do not know exactly why they are good or what effects they have. This is because the types and concepts of stem cell injections are not widely known.
Through today’s post, I’ll explain in detail what stem cells are and what characteristics they have. If you’ve been curious about stem cells, please focus for a moment and read on.^^
What Are Stem Cells?

Stem cells refer to undifferentiated cells that have not yet specialized into a specific cell type. In English, they are called stem cells, and here “stem” means the base of a tree.
Cells can branch out from the base of a tree and become branches or leaves, right? Because they have these many possibilities, they are called stem cells.

To make it easier to understand, think of the process of a fetus being conceived and growing.
When an egg and sperm are fertilized, they become a single cell. As that cell divides, arms and legs are formed, and organs such as the heart and liver are also formed.
This is the process by which divided cells have various possibilities and differentiate into specific cells. Cells with these various possibilities are what we call stem cells.

There are several types of stem cell injections like this. The stem cells formed when an egg and sperm are fertilized, as mentioned earlier, are embryonic stem cells.
Embryonic stem cells can differentiate into all tissues and organs. However, they are difficult to access. There are also ethical issues involved in the collection process.

Because of this, the type of stem cells used in treatment is adult stem cells. Adult stem cells cannot differentiate into all cell types like embryonic stem cells. Their fate is determined to some extent.
These adult stem cells have a lower risk of unpredictable side effects with modern medical technology, so they can be considered a safe stem cell treatment.
I know stem cells are good for regeneration, but
how does regeneration happen?

The key ability of adult stem cells is regeneration.
Stem cells can differentiate into various tissue cells as needed. When the skin is damaged, they differentiate into skin cells to form new tissue. This can shorten treatment time compared to natural healing.
They also divide and copy themselves, providing resources so the damaged area can recover better.

There is another reason adult stem cells are excellent for regeneration. It is because of a characteristic called the Homing Effect.
The Homing Effect refers to the ability of stem cells to find damaged or inflamed tissue on their own.
The mechanism is as follows.
- Signal molecules such as cytokines and chemokines are secreted due to tissue damage or inflammation
- Stem cells detect the signals and move along the bloodstream
- They stop and attach at the damaged site
- Stem cells induce regeneration through differentiation, anti-inflammatory action, and growth factor secretion

Because of the homing effect, stem cells do not necessarily need to be injected directly into the damaged area; they can find the problematic area themselves and help treat it.
At Objet, we use the homing effect of stem cells to help delay aging, improve immunity, strengthen tissue regeneration, and enhance the body’s recovery ability.
We offer various types of stem cell injections using adult stem cells, so you can receive a procedure tailored to your desired purpose.

Stem cells are currently being used in various fields. At Objet, we continue researching stem cell injections so that patients can live healthier and more beautiful lives.
We are currently conducting ongoing research at the Objet Stem Cell Center.
At the Objet Stem Cell Center, we draw blood and collect stem cells using only machines certified by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the Ministry of Health and Welfare, so you can receive treatment with peace of mind.

Today, I explained what stem cells are and what characteristics they have. I’ll explain the types and effects of stem cell injections in more detail next time.^^
