Under-Eye Fat Repositioning Pain? Surgical Process?
Director Jang Wook’s <Deep Dive>

Hello.
This is Obje Plastic Surgery.
When looking into under-eye fat repositioning,
"How much will it hurt...?"
is probably the first question that comes to mind.
The area around the eyes is a sensitive part of the face,
so it is completely natural to worry about this.
In actual consultations for under-eye fat repositioning,
we often hear questions like:
"Once the anesthesia wears off, does it hurt a lot?"
"Can you feel anything during the surgery?"
Some people may feel vaguely scared
because they do not really know
how the surgery is performed.
So today,
we will explain specifically what actually happens
on the day of under-eye fat repositioning,
and how much pain there is
during under-eye fat repositioning.
If you read to the end,
the vague anxiety you have now
will likely lessen a little.
The 'actual process' on the day of surgery
is revealed in detail!
Many people
start feeling nervous on the day of surgery,
and first wonder things like:
"Where should I go?"
"What do I need to prepare?"
At our Obje Plastic Surgery clinic,
on the day of surgery, you do not need to pass through a separate consultation room.
You can go straight up to the floor
where the operating room is located.
The consultation details
have already all been shared.

However, because there is paperwork such as consent forms
and some simple preparation procedures,
it is best to arrive about 1 hour
earlier than your scheduled time.
When you arrive,
you will first complete payment,
then be assigned a recovery room,
and change clothes.
If you are receiving only under-eye fat repositioning
without fat grafting,
there are cases where you do not need to change clothes.
After that, you will fill out the consent forms
and watch the pre-surgery guidance video
on a tablet.
You should remove contact lenses and piercings in advance.
Once preparation is complete,
you will move to the photo room
and have pre-surgery photos taken.
Then, when the doctor in charge comes in,
you will review the consent form contents
and receive one last explanation about the surgery.
At this point, the consent form includes
details about situations that can occur very rarely.
Because of that, while reading the consent form,
many people become nervous and think,
"Could something like this happen too...?"
But this is only guidance
about possibilities.
In fact, getting too nervous can make anesthesia less effective
and is not good for recovery either,
so more than anything,
it is important to trust the medical staff you chose
and stay relaxed.

Once anesthesia is given, do you really not feel anything?
This is what it is like during surgery!
When you enter the operating room in earnest,
a line for anesthesia is inserted into your arm with a needle,
and then the face sterilization step begins.
Eye drops for protection
are also put into your eyes.
After sterilization is finished,
your face is covered with a sterile drape,
and from this point on,
you can relax and prepare to fall asleep.

The moment you hear,
"We’re putting the medicine in,"
you will almost immediately fall asleep.
At that moment, as the medication goes in,
you may feel something a little strange.
When we hear what people say after waking up,
some say they went on a trip to outer space,
some say they ran through a flower field,
some say they just kept laughing,
and some say they went to a black hole,

and they share a wide variety of experiences.
This is a temporary reaction caused by the anesthetic,
so there is no need to worry too much.
The under-eye fat repositioning procedure itself
takes about 40 to 50 minutes.
Because it deals precisely with a narrow area below the eyes,
there are moments when the surgical site is gently pulled
or the eyes are lightly pressed.

At this time, there may be a slight sensation of pulling or pressure,
but
it is closer to mild discomfort than to pain from under-eye fat repositioning.
It is clearly different from the feeling of "pain,"
so you can let your body relax and sleep comfortably.
When the under-eye fat repositioning on both sides is finished,
the protective lenses are removed,
and tape is applied under the eyes,
then we help you slowly
sit up from the bed.
At this time, because the medication may still be affecting you,
you may feel unsteady or dizzy,
so it is best to be careful.
Nurses will support you
all the way to the recovery room,
so please move slowly.

On the way home after surgery,
this is absolutely forbidden!
In the recovery room,
you will receive cold compresses
for about 20 to 30 minutes.
If you feel a little more awake,
you can press the bell that has been prepared.
After checking your condition,
if it is judged to be fine,
you can go home.
What is truly important at this time
is that you must not drive.
You may think,
"I’m fully awake, though?"
but in reality,
the effects of the medication may not have fully worn off yet.

It is as dangerous as drunk driving,
so you must never do it.
After you get home,
please read the instructions you received carefully
and follow them well.
In particular, compresses are very important
for reducing swelling,
so it is best to do them frequently.
Regarding pain after under-eye fat repositioning,
you should also take the prescribed medication
all the way to the end.
For up to two days, there may be pain,
so if needed, it is okay to take one or two more pain relievers
that you have at home.
Today, we explained in detail
what the actual process is like on the day of under-eye fat repositioning surgery,
and how much pain there is
after under-eye fat repositioning.

If you come in,
please allow for about one hour before surgery,
one hour during surgery,
and one hour after surgery,
for a total of about three hours.
Above all, rather than having a vague fear of surgery itself,
it is most important to understand the process
and
stay relaxed while trusting the medical staff.
Director Jang Wook of Obje Plastic Surgery
knows better than anyone the points that make patients anxious,
so before and after surgery,
we consider providing sufficient explanations and guidance
to be the basic standard of care.
Once you know the specific process,
the vague fear
will be greatly reduced.
If you are considering under-eye fat repositioning,
we hope you receive it at a place where you can fully understand the process
and trust the team with confidence.
This has been Obje Plastic Surgery.
Thank you.
