Forehead Lift Effect?
For drooping eyelids
Director Kim Hyun-jo’s <3> Recommendations!

Hello.
This is Obje Plastic Surgery.
Every time you look in the mirror,
you may feel like your eyelids are gradually drooping,
and if your eyes seem heavy or cramped,
many people think of upper blepharoplasty.
This is because they expect that
if the loose eyelid skin is removed,
the eyes will look more refreshed.
In fact, upper blepharoplasty is
one of the representative methods
for addressing drooping eyelids,
so it is often chosen
as one of the most common procedures.
However, there is one important point
that must be mentioned here.
Upper blepharoplasty is not
equally effective for every type
of drooping eye area.
Sometimes, a brow lift under the eyebrow
or a forehead lift may be
more appropriate.
So today, I’d like to organize
three surgical methods that can be applied
to drooping eyelids.
If you read to the end,
it will help you understand when each method is needed
and which one may be right for you.
First recommendation,
If only the OOO skin has stretched? <Upper blepharoplasty>
The first recommended method is
the well-known upper blepharoplasty.

Upper blepharoplasty is a procedure that
designs along the double eyelid line
and removes the loose eyelid skin.
This method is suitable when
the eyebrow and forehead positions remain the same,
but only the eyelid skin has become thin and loose,
obstructing the field of vision.
The way to check is simple.
Stand in front of a mirror and
press down firmly on your forehead with your hand.
If, while keeping that position,
you open your eyes and the eyebrows
stay properly in place above the brow bone,
and only the eyelid skin looks wrinkled,
upper blepharoplasty can sufficiently improve it.
Because upper blepharoplasty
removes the loose skin,
the double eyelid line can become clearer again,
and the eyes can look much cleaner.

What matters here, however,
is how much skin should be removed.
If too much is removed,
the eyes may not fully close
when you shut them,
and if too little is removed,
the heavy, cramped feeling may remain.
That is why, before surgery,
it is necessary to precisely measure
how much extra skin there is
and where the double eyelid line will look natural.
The strength of the muscles that open the eyes
must also be checked.
If only the skin is addressed
while the muscle strength is weak,
the eyes may not open in a refreshed way,
so an additional procedure to strengthen the muscle
may be needed.
In the end, upper blepharoplasty is
affective when the eyelid skin itself
is the problem.
Second recommendation,
If the OO has dropped downward? <Brow lift under the eyebrow>
The second recommended method is
a brow lift under the eyebrow.

A brow lift under the eyebrow is a procedure that
makes an incision in the skin just below the eyebrow
and lifts the drooping eyebrow.
This method is needed when
you originally had double eyelids,
but as you age,
the eyebrows have dropped downward
and started to cover the double eyelid line.
Using the self-check method mentioned earlier,
if you press on your forehead and see that
the eyebrows are slightly below
the brow bone,
but the double eyelid line is still clearly visible,
this is the time to consider a brow lift under the eyebrow.
In such cases, if you only remove the eyelid skin
with upper blepharoplasty,
the distance between the eyes and eyebrows becomes even narrower,
and the eyelids may end up looking thicker.
On the other hand, if a brow lift under the eyebrow
is used to bring the drooping eyebrows back into place,
the eye area can look refreshed naturally
without altering the double eyelid line.

It has the advantage of improving the heavy feeling
while preserving the existing eye shape.
For those who originally liked their double eyelids,
this can be a more satisfying choice.
Third recommendation,
If even the OO has drooped? <Forehead lift>
The last recommended method is
a forehead lift.
This surgery lifts the entire drooping forehead
and fixes it together with the eyebrows.

This method is needed when
the entire forehead has dropped heavily
and the eyebrows have also sagged.
Here is how to check.
If you press on your forehead and see that
the eyebrows are clearly below the brow bone,
and several deep horizontal forehead lines
have formed,
this is the time to consider a forehead lift.
The reason deep horizontal lines appear on the forehead is that
the forehead muscles have been overused
each time you open your eyes.
Because the muscles that lift the eyelids alone
are not enough to open the eyes fully,
you have been unconsciously using the forehead muscles as well
to keep your eyes open.
In this state, if you only have upper blepharoplasty
or a brow lift under the eyebrow,
it may seem to improve temporarily,
but the underlying problem is not solved.
Since the entire forehead has dropped heavily,
after some time the eyes may feel heavy and cramped again.

By contrast, if a forehead lift
raises the drooping forehead and eyebrows together,
you can expect two effects at once.
First, as the eyebrow covering the eyes moves upward,
the eye area becomes clearly more defined.
Second, because you no longer need to overuse the forehead muscles,
forehead wrinkles can also improve.
This is the effect of a forehead lift.
However, in a forehead lift,
how much the eyebrows are raised is important.
If they are lifted too high,
the expression may look unnatural, as if startled,
and if they are lifted too little,
the eyes may still look heavy and cramped.
That is why the key is to precisely analyze
the facial proportions and the position of the brow bone
and find a natural height.
In the end, to properly see the effect of a forehead lift,
you need to consider the sagging of the entire forehead as well.
Today, for those who are worried about drooping eyelids,
I organized three surgical methods.
Even if they look like the same kind of 'drooping eyelids,'
the procedure needed can be completely different
depending on where the cause lies.
Director Kim Hyun-jo of Obje Plastic Surgery
does not simply look at the drooping eyelid itself,
but comprehensively analyzes the position of the eyebrows,
the degree of forehead sagging,
and the strength of the muscles that open the eyes,
as well as the overall facial structure.
Only then can the result be natural and satisfying,
matching each person's eye area.
The effect of a forehead lift
can truly appear only when you understand
that the forehead, eyebrows, and eyelids are all connected
and approach the issue within the balance of the whole face.
Based on what I explained today,
please check at home once,
and when you consult with a specialist,
I recommend that you also
review these points together.
I hope this post was even a little helpful
for those who are worried about their eye area.
This has been Obje Plastic Surgery.
Thank you.
