Out-line double eyelid
What Is the Pretty Height? ○ mm?
Director Park Si-hyeon’s Answer!

Hello.
This is Objet Plastic Surgery.
If you came here to read this post,
you’re probably considering double eyelid surgery.
What you’re most curious about right now is probably:
"Exactly how many mm high should it be
to create a pretty out-line?"
If you search online,
some places say 8 mm,
while others say 10 mm,
and some reviews say
6 mm is enough,
so it’s not easy to set a standard.
As a result,
it only creates more confusion:
"Then what height is right for me,
even in mm?"
Today, I’d like to help clear up some of that confusion.
I’ll explain why the ideal height
is said differently for each person,
and what matters more than the number itself,
one by one.
If you read to the end,
you’ll have a clearer idea of
what 기준 to use when discussing it during a consultation.
Out-line double eyelid,
Is there a correct answer? O mm?
First, the most important thing to say is:
"There is no fixed height for an out-line double eyelid."
There is no exact formula like
9 mm means out-line, 8 mm means semi-out.

In actual double eyelid consultations,
I often get questions like,
"Director, how many mm would make me look pretty?"
Or,
"If I want eyes like a certain celebrity,
what height in mm should I choose?"
My answer in those situations is always the same.
"That number itself
is not important because it differs from person to person,
and we only measure it once
for the purpose of matching the height of both eyelids."

That’s because even with the same 8 mm,
it may become a natural out-line double eyelid for one person,
but it may feel too much for someone else.
In some cases, even 6 mm
can look like 8 mm.
On the other hand,
there are also people for whom
the eyelid crease does not show well
even when it is set fairly high.
Why the same height can look different <4 reasons>
Even with the same height,
the reason double eyelids look different
can be divided into four main factors.
① Thickness of the eyelid skin
For people with thin skin,
the skin covering the double eyelid does not overlap much,
so the line tends to look larger.
For example, even if the height is set at 6 mm,
thin skin may make it look as clear as 8 mm.
Conversely, people with thicker skin often find that
the crease is not well exposed
even when it is set quite high.
The skin itself
covers the line.
In such cases,
even with the same height,
it can feel much more natural.

② Eye length and curve
If the horizontal length of the eyes is short,
the line’s curve may look short
and thick.
Even after creating a double eyelid,
if the eye length is not sufficient,
the overall look may feel cramped or
may come across as
unnatural.
On the other hand,
for people with longer eyes,
even the same height allows the line to spread out longer,
creating a much fresher and clearer impression.
This is why the harmony between
the eye’s horizontal length
and the double eyelid line matters.
③ Size of the epicanthal fold
To create an out-line double eyelid,
the crease must basically form
higher than the epicanthal fold.

However, the height of the eyelid crease
connected to that epicanthal fold
differs from person to person,
but in general it is around
9–11 mm.
In other words,
it needs to be set higher than this value,
but if the epicanthal fold is large,
it needs to be set even higher,
and if it is small,
a relatively lower height can still produce
an out-line effect.
Alternatively, you can also consider
an inner corner procedure or upper corner procedure
so that the epicanthal fold itself
becomes smaller.

④ Eye-opening strength
The strength used to open the eyes,
that is, the power of the levator muscle,
also has an effect.
For people with weaker eye-opening strength,
the double eyelid line is more easily hidden by the eyelid,
so it needs to be set a little higher
to look clear.
On the other hand,
for people with stronger eye-opening strength,
even a lower height is enough
to show the line well,
so there is no need to set it too high.
This is also a factor with
large individual differences.
What matters more than the number?
It is OO
To summarize,
the out-line double eyelid line is about
much more than a number in mm;
the harmony that suits my face and eye structure
is far more important.

Even if the same number is applied,
it may look more natural for one person
and unnatural for another.
Of course, to make the eyes look bigger,
the line does need to be
at a certain height,
but if it is too high,
it can create an artificial look.
That is why it is important
to set the height that suits you.
Rather than focusing too much on whether it is inner or outer,
it is better to look for the line
that suits you.
The ideal line and height differ depending on
the overall structure of the eyes,
such as eye size, skin thickness,
eye-opening strength, and the size of the epicanthal fold.
When consulting,
instead of saying, "Please make it X mm," it is much wiser to say,
"Please find the line that suits me."

That way, you can avoid being tied to numbers
and find the most harmonious line
for your eyes.
Today, we talked about why
the height of an out-line double eyelid
is not fixed,
and why it can look different from person to person
even at the same height.
In the end, what matters is not the number of "mm,"
but a customized design that considers
the structure of your eyes
and the balance of your entire face.
No matter how trendy a line may be,
it has no meaning if it does not suit your face.
Director Park Si-hyeon of Objet Plastic Surgery
carefully identifies each patient’s eye structure,
and considers it the basic principle of treatment
to find the most harmonious line
without being bound by numbers.

Based on outstanding experience
in double eyelid procedures,
and with a patient-centered consultation style
that is gentle and detailed,
we take pride in a high level of satisfaction.
When receiving a consultation,
please be sure to check whether they are a place that thinks together with you
about "what line suits me."
