Today, for those of you in that situation, I’ll explain why a double-eyelid line may appear to loosen in three main ways.

Cause of loosening double eyelids? 'A line that doesn't suit my eyes'

Let me start with the conclusion.

The most common reason is forcing a line that does not match your eye structure.

When people think about why a line loosens, they often assume, 'it was just a failed surgery.'

But in reality, there are many cases where things were already off at the stage of designing the initial line.

Everyone is born with different eye lengths, different skin thickness, the amount of fat in the eyelid area,

the strength of the eyelid-opening muscles, and even the degree of the epicanthal fold.

This is why the same line can produce different results.

In particular, a flashy semi-out line or a design that simply copies a celebrity’s eyes is a typical case that can lead to loosening of the double eyelid.

If you try to force a line that your eyes cannot properly support, the sutured area cannot withstand that tension and may gradually loosen,

or it may appear faint as the line becomes blurred.

In the end, the issue is not the line itself, but the result of copying the appearance without finding a line that suits your own eyes.

If it keeps loosening after buried suture surgery? The reason is 'here'

When looking into double-eyelid surgery, people often think deeply about whether to choose the buried suture method or the incision method.

Getting this choice wrong is another reason why the line can appear to loosen.

Many people tend to think, 'buried suture is natural, and incision is burdensome,'

but in reality, it is not that simple.

The buried suture method is a way of creating the line with fine thread.

If the skin is thin, there is not much fat,

and the eyes are not sagging, a clear line can be created with buried suture alone.

Recovery is also relatively quick.

On the other hand, the story changes if the skin is thick, there is a lot of fat in the eyelid area, or the skin has sagged to some degree.

If buried suture is applied to these eyes, the weight of the skin, fat, and tissue makes it difficult for adhesion to form stably,

and the line may loosen more quickly than expected.

That is why, in such cases, the incision method is also considered.

It removes the necessary amount of skin, fat, and muscle,

and directly creates the space where the line can settle,

so depending on the eye condition, it may help the line last longer.

Unlike the common belief that 'incision always looks obvious,'

if it is performed to suit your eye condition, it can actually lead to a more natural result.

Among people whose double eyelids keep loosening, there are also cases where the eyes were better suited to the incision method from the start, but buried suture was chosen and the same issue kept happening.

What if the line is formed but still looks loosened? The real 'cause' is elsewhere

In some cases where the line appears loosened, the adhesion has not actually come apart. The line is still in place,

but it is hidden by other factors, creating what is known as a 'false loosening.'

A typical case is when the eyelid-opening strength is weak.

If ptosis is present, the completed line is covered by the upper eyelid and gradually becomes obscured.

Unlike an actual separation of adhesion, the line itself is still there, but it is more like it has been buried under the upper skin.

In such cases, eyelid correction should be performed together to compensate for the weakened eye-opening strength so that the line appears in the right position.

Conversely, if the eye-opening strength is already sufficient and eyelid correction is added too aggressively, the eyes may look overly wide or leave an artificial impression.

That is why eyelid correction is not something that suits everyone; it should be decided carefully based on the condition.

Next is the epicanthal fold.

For those with a strong epicanthal fold at the inner corner, the front part of the double eyelid may look cramped and hidden, so the curve can appear broken.

In such cases, adding an epicanthoplasty to help the line flow naturally can create a more harmonious result.

The amount of fat also needs to be checked.

If there is a lot of fat in the eyelid area, the upper part of the line can look congested, and it may be difficult for the line to form deeply, so some reduction may be needed.

However, if too much fat is removed, the eyes may look hollow, or give a tired, aged impression,

so finding the right balance is important.

Only by examining these various factors together and forming the line accordingly can the result settle comfortably without the double eyelid loosening.
