Endoscopic Brow Lift
Why Is It Popular with MZ?
Dr. Shin Jong-in <Summary>

Hello.
This is Objet Plastic Surgery.
Endoscopic brow lift was originally
known as a surgery mainly sought by
middle-aged and older adults.
But these days,
interest has been increasing sharply
among people in their 20s and 30s as well.
You can also see more and more stories
from younger people in review posts and on SNS.

Just hearing the name,
it can feel burdensome,
as if it were a surgery for older people.
So what is behind the trend
of MZ choosing it too?
Today, we’ll look at why MZ seeks a brow lift
and what has changed compared with the past.
If you read to the end,
it may help you decide whether this approach
matches the concerns you have about your impression
or the shape of your eyes.
The real reason MZ looks for it
is not ‘aging’

The reason MZ is interested in endoscopic brow lift
is closer to wanting to change their appearance
than to slowing down aging.
Let me explain simply.
Some people are born with a short distance
between the eyebrows and the eyes.
For these people, even at rest,
the eyes can look cramped and heavy,
and they often hear that they look sleepy.
If you always look tired in the mirror
and feel like your eye area looks dull,
this is likely the cause.
Many people think this problem can be solved
with double eyelid surgery, only to come in for a consultation
and hear, “The position of the brows is the bigger issue.”
The forehead, brows, and eyes
are connected as one line of structure,
so if the brows sit too low,
working only on the eyelids won’t create enough space above and below.

Endoscopic brow lift
gently moves the brow position upward,
widening the space between the eyes and brows.
As a result,
the eyes can look clearer and more refreshed,
creating a naturally refined impression.
Because it does not look overly obvious,
and the overall mood appears brighter,
it fits well with the preferences of MZ,
who want a naturally changed impression.
If you’re thinking of the old brow lift, think again!
It has changed ‘completely’
The reason MZ began considering brow lift
also has a lot to do with the fact that the surgical method itself
has changed.

In the past, brow lift involved
making a long incision across the upper scalp
above the forehead,
then pulling the skin upward.
While the pulling force on the skin was strong,
the wide incision area increased the possibility of damaging scalp nerves,
and after surgery,
scalp sensation could become dull,
or an odd sensation could remain when touching the head.

The method used now
uses an endoscope, as the name suggests.
About five small incisions,
about 1.5–2 cm each,
are made inside the scalp within the hairline,
and a camera and surgical instruments are inserted through them
to lift the tissue upward.

There is no visible external incision,
and since all incision lines are inside the scalp where hair grows,
scars are not visible from the outside.
Because the procedure is performed while directly viewing the internal structures with a camera,
it has developed in a way that helps reduce the possibility of nerve injury.

With scars hidden by hair
and less burden in returning to daily life,
younger people who need to return quickly to school or work
have come to consider it more casually.
Recovery is relatively quick,
but checking whether it is suitable comes first
The speed of recovery after an endoscopic brow lift
varies from person to person,
but it is generally not very burdensome.

For about 3–4 days after surgery,
it can be difficult to get water on the head,
so washing may be somewhat inconvenient.
Swelling and bruising also appear at first,
but the degree and speed differ by person,
and usually after about a week,
the visible signs tend to lessen.
Because hair naturally covers the incision area,
the burden of going out during recovery is relatively small.

However, endoscopic brow lift
is not suitable for everyone.
If you have very sparse hair
or an unusually high hairline,
the incision area may not be sufficiently hidden,
so checking in advance is necessary.
Also, depending on whether the problem is truly that
the distance between the eyebrows and eyes is narrow and makes the face look cramped,
or whether the cause comes from the eyelids or under-eye fat,
the appropriate surgical direction may differ.
If, when looking in the mirror,
your brows sit low even in daily life,
or
if you feel your eyes become more comfortable only when using the forehead muscles to lift them,
it is better to look at the forehead, brows, and eyes together and decide on a direction.
In particular, if people around your age often say,
“Why do you always look angry?”
or “You look tired,”
there are often structural reasons that are difficult to cover with makeup,
so it is a good idea to check the forehead and brow position together.
Today, we looked at why MZ is paying attention to endoscopic brow lift,
along with the surgical method and recovery process.

The key to a brow lift
is not simply lifting the forehead upward.
Depending on how the brow position is adjusted,
the impression of the eyes, the balance of facial proportions,
and even the mood of the expression can change,
so the refinement process during the planning stage
is more important than anything else.
Dr. Shin Jong-in of Objet Plastic Surgery carefully examines
how asymmetric the brows are on the left and right,
the direction and strength of forehead muscle movement,
the shape of the hairline, and the thickness of the scalp,
then designs the incision position and the points where tissue will be fixed
to match the facial structure.
In addition, the incision direction is set according to the path of the sensory nerves in the forehead,
so the procedure is performed in a way that helps reduce changes in scalp sensation after surgery.
Especially for younger patients,
there are many who want a naturally refined impression
rather than a dramatic change that is obvious to others,
so we consider the brow position,
the movement pattern of the forehead muscles,
and the overall facial proportions together when deciding the direction.
If you are considering a brow lift,
first understand what kind of change it creates in your face,
and I recommend going through the step of examining the brow position and forehead structure together.

Thank you.
