Presents on Eye Surgery at APS KOREA

The medical team from Thank You Plastic Surgery attended APS KOREA 2026 and delivered an academic presentation!

APS KOREA is an international academic conference held last April at the Dragon City Hotel in Yongsan, Seoul.

This conference, hosted by the Korean Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (KSAPS), was attended by about 700 medical professionals from around 20 countries, who shared the latest knowledge and techniques in aesthetic plastic surgery.

At this conference, Thank You Plastic Surgery Director Kim Hyung-seok and Dr. Kim Dasom also attended.

Over the two-day conference, Director Kim Hyung-seok presented on medial epicanthoplasty revision and under-eye fat repositioning, while Dr. Kim Dasom gave a presentation on orbital crescent expansion surgery.

First, on the 11th, Director Kim Hyung-seok presented on revision medial epicanthoplasty, which restores the natural shape of the inner eye corner while minimizing scarring.

Focusing on actual cases in which revision surgery was needed due to excessive lacrimal caruncle exposure or an unnatural, overly strong impression after epicanthoplasty, he explained the procedure’s application and directions for improvement.

In particular, he also introduced a technique that can be applied even in cases where there was no prior epicanthoplasty experience, but the lacrimal caruncle naturally appears hook-shaped, and it received significant attention.

On the same day, Dr. Kim Dasom gave a presentation on orbital crescent expansion surgery.

She emphasized the importance of skeletal structure in plastic surgery for improving the eye shape, and explained that approaches centered only on soft tissue, such as traditional double eyelid surgery or brow lift surgery, may not sufficiently relieve a cramped or heavy impression in some cases.

As an alternative, she introduced orbital crescent expansion surgery, a method that expands the structures around the eyes by refining the skeleton of the orbital bone below the brow bone. She explained that, when performed together with soft tissue improvement, it can help create a more open and natural eye shape.

She especially explained that it can be effective in cases where the orbital bone is well developed, creating a strong impression or a cramped eye shape.

On the 12th, the following day, Director Kim Hyung-seok presented on complications that may occur after under-eye fat repositioning and ways to improve them.

He addressed representative postoperative complications, such as induration (a condition in which the surgical area becomes hardened and feels lump-like), fine wrinkles, delayed wound healing, granulomas, entropion, and recurrence of fat protrusion due to insufficient septal reinforcement, and introduced various approaches to help prevent them.

He also presented surgical and non-surgical improvement methods that can be applied when such issues occur, attracting the attention of the attending medical professionals.

This academic presentation was a meaningful opportunity to share the Thank You Plastic Surgery medical team’s various eye surgery cases and clinical experience, and to exchange in-depth opinions with medical professionals from Korea and abroad.
