RS85 is a product with enhanced research functions to target large hospitals around the world in earnest, and it newly applies MV-Flow™ and S-Shearwave Imaging™ features.
MV-Flow™ helps identify lesions by showing blood flow in microvascular tissue that could not be measured with conventional Doppler ultrasound examinations.
- Doppler sonography: An examination that simultaneously uses Doppler and ultrasound to observe blood flow inside blood vessels, and is used to evaluate pathological narrowing or blockage of blood vessels. The Doppler effect uses the difference in frequency when a moving sound source approaches or moves away from me.
S-Shearwave Imaging™ improved the accuracy of diagnosing cirrhosis and tumors by using ultrasound shear-wave elasticity to create a clinical diagnostic index that quantifies the elasticity of human tissue.
In addition, compared with Samsung’s existing model, the RS80A, it has been greatly upgraded in terms of features and usability.
In terms of features, CEUS+ (contrast-enhanced ultrasound), which diagnoses blood flow or lesions with contrast-enhanced imaging, has expanded the range of diagnoses beyond the liver and breast to pediatric diagnoses by using various probes (Probe, transducers). The S-Fusion™ feature, which registers and simultaneously compares and analyzes images from other imaging diagnostic devices such as MRI and CT with ultrasound images, has also expanded its diagnostic range from the liver and kidneys to the prostate.
In terms of usability, not only does the Monitor Arm have a wider range of motion than the existing model, but a touchscreen function that allows a variety of customized operations has also been added, reducing the fatigue of ultrasound examiners and shortening scan time.
RS85 is expected to be introduced sequentially in major regions, starting with Korea and Europe, according to each country’s regulatory approval schedule. This product aims to target large hospitals with more than 500 beds worldwide, and plans to strengthen active research collaboration with leading scholars in Korea and overseas.
Song In-sook, Executive Vice President in charge of product strategy for Samsung medical devices, said, “We expect RS85 to become Samsung’s representative product even in the radiology field, where high-level performance and research functions are required, thanks to Samsung’s differentiated product capabilities,” and added, “It will be an opportunity for Samsung Medison to accelerate business diversification by achieving strong results not only in ultrasound diagnostic devices, but also in ultrasound diagnostic devices for radiology.”
