“Since there’s only one month left, I should do something more intense, right?”—a dangerous thought
With exactly about one month left before the wedding, brides-to-be become extremely anxious. Every time they look in the mirror, they start noticing tiny blemishes or the shape of their jawline that they normally would not see, and they become overwhelmed by the pressure to “look their absolute best on the wedding day.” The most common mistake at this point is rushing. They may suddenly undergo several intense procedures they have never tried before, or hastily book a procedure with a long recovery period simply because they heard it works quickly.

However, one month before the wedding is not the time to try something new on your skin or subject it to excessive stimulation. You should proceed with “predictable safety” and “zero side effects” as your top priorities. Before the most beautiful day of your life, we will go over the procedures to avoid at a dermatology clinic and the wise alternatives.

If you are one month away from the wedding,
avoid these three procedures!

❌ 1. Ablative lasers and deep Fraxel treatments (damage to the skin barrier)
It is somewhat—or rather, extremely—risky to undergo ablative Fraxel-type laser treatments that resurface the face or cause scabbing one month before the wedding simply because you want to eliminate acne scars or enlarged pores quickly. It takes at least four weeks to several months for skin cells to fully regenerate and redness to subside. You could end up with a fiery red complexion resembling a roasted sweet potato that makeup cannot conceal on the wedding day, or a disastrous situation in which makeup lifts dramatically on sensitized skin.
![[Dr. Bellevue Column 97.] One Month Before the Wedding, image 5](https://pub-9f2bb3498faf4d1d8714b41df24753e3.r2.dev/content/clinics/archive/dc2f1d4a75/naver_blog/bellebeauclinic1/assets/by_hash/eb85d92401329f3990cf0f248c02218664f9381642e5532ace7118c0acbbb8bd.jpg)
It is safest to undergo ablative laser and deep Fraxel treatments with at least three to six months of leeway before the wedding. Because ablative lasers remove skin cells or create controlled wounds to induce regeneration, it takes considerable time for the skin to fully recover and for redness to subside. Temporary erythema and hyperpigmentation may occur after treatment, causing the skin to look darker or uneven, and it usually takes at least two to three months to calm and recover. To achieve smooth skin texture without makeup lifting on the wedding day, the damaged skin barrier must be fully restored.
Therefore, these treatments should absolutely be avoided when only one month remains until the wedding. If you are considering them to improve scars or pores, we recommend scheduling them at least three months in advance, or six months in advance for a more reliable timeline.

❌ 2. Excessive amounts of filler immediately before the wedding (an unnatural expression and swelling)
Some people inject a large amount of filler one month—or even two weeks—before the wedding to add dimension by filling hollow cheeks, the front cheeks, or nasolabial folds. Immediately after injection, filler absorbs moisture from the surrounding tissue, causing subtle swelling, and it needs time to settle. Even if it looks fine normally, your expression may become stiff or feel artificial due to a foreign-body sensation when you smile broadly.
Filling a large amount at once causes subtle swelling as the surrounding tissue absorbs moisture. As a result, your expression may look awkward or artificial when you smile broadly on the wedding day. It usually takes several weeks or more for the injected filler to settle naturally within the skin tissue and for its shape to stabilize. In rare cases, swelling or nodules caused by an immune response may develop several weeks after treatment, so sufficient time must be allowed to address them.
For large-volume filler treatments, it is safest to complete the procedure at least two to three months before the wedding. No matter how urgent it feels, you should allow at least two months. Wedding photos remain for a lifetime, so be sure to keep this in mind. For wedding photos that will last forever and a natural smile, we recommend planning filler treatments with plenty of time to spare.

❌ 3. Unverified strong peels or sudden, aggressive exfoliation
You should never rush into a chemical peel containing excessive amounts of acidic ingredients when there is not enough time, simply to create smooth, “honey-like” skin. This is because the stratum corneum, the skin’s outer protective layer, may become compromised after treatment. Even if the makeup artist uses the best base products at the salon on the wedding day, your skin may not retain moisture and white flakes may appear, leaving you in an unfortunate situation. Products used at home for exfoliation should also be used cautiously and with care. This is a procedure that should only be performed when sufficient time is available. When strongly acidic ingredients penetrate deeply into the skin, a frosting phenomenon may appear immediately after treatment, in which the skin’s surface turns white, followed over the next several days by extensive peeling. During this period, the skin barrier is extremely vulnerable, so this must be avoided immediately before the wedding.

It is safest to complete strong chemical peels or sudden, aggressive exfoliation at least one to two months before the wedding. Immediately before the wedding, rather than choosing “removal”-focused care that damages the skin barrier, it is safer to choose gentle, close-contact care that replenishes moisture and nourishment—such as hydrating and moisturizing care—so makeup applies smoothly.

The answer is “removal and texture-focused care,” along with safety
What you truly need is care that neatly refines the shape of your face without disrupting daily life while bringing out the beauty of your skin texture as much as possible. Examples include Onda lifting, Skin Botox, and Rituo. These are treatments that Bellevue Clinic, whose motto is natural beauty, truly loves. This does not mean that other treatments are bad; we recommend these because they involve no downtime, have few notable side effects, are comfortable for patients, and can still produce good results. We often recommend them even to people who are not brides or grooms-to-be.
Onda lifting, known for being a painless lifting treatment!
With Onda lifting, you can smoothly reduce unnecessary volume under the chin and in the lower cheeks. Because it does not cause pain, bruising, or swelling, you can return to daily activities immediately after treatment.
For managing the skin’s surface, it is much safer and can produce a more noticeable effect to enhance only the translucent glow of the skin with Skin Botox, which does not paralyze the muscles and keeps facial expressions natural, or with a skin booster such as Rituo, which helps support the cells’ natural regenerative capacity.

“ I was a skeptical bride-to-be, but Bellevue saved me!”
(Office worker, Ms. A, age 31)
“I was in a hurry with exactly one month left before my wedding, and I was about to get a strong laser treatment at another clinic. The director at Bellevue talked me out of it so earnestly that I switched to Onda and Skin Botox. The result was a huge success! There was absolutely no downtime, so I even went on a restaurant tour around Gangnam Station with my husband on the day of the treatment. On the wedding day, the makeup director complimented me by saying, ‘Why is your skin texture so bouncy?’ At that moment, I thought it was absolutely the right decision to choose safe, texture-focused care instead of an excessive treatment. I have been telling all my fellow brides-to-be that safety comes first!”
The more rushed you feel, the more you need to return to the basics. Through precise and safe scheduling, complete the elegant, natural bridal look that shines most beautifully on your wedding day. Bellevue Clinic at Gangnam Station will accompany you on that safe journey. Thank you.

“Specialized in skin analysis”
Bellevue Clinic
Mark-Vu skin analysis can identify a wide range of skin concerns at once, including skin texture, pigmentation, pores, wrinkles, skin tone, dark circles, radiance, redness, melanin, sebum, and acne-causing bacteria—many of which are difficult to confirm with the naked eye.
At Bellevue, we scientifically analyze your skin based on these findings and make a final recommendation for the necessary treatments. Through detailed consultations, we will do our best to provide the treatment most effective for each patient.
