When looking into dermatology treatments, you may often come across the terms “hydration injection” and “skin booster.” Many people wonder whether they refer to the same treatment or are different concepts. Today, we will organize the differences between the two treatments, focusing on their ingredients and effects.
Key Summary
✔ Hydration injections are based on hyaluronic acid and focus on providing immediate hydration
✔ Skin boosters have more specific purposes, such as regeneration and barrier strengthening, depending on their ingredients, including Rejuran Healer, Juvelook, and Retigen
✔ Treatment intervals and duration vary depending on the ingredients, and results may differ from person to person

Hydration Injections: Hydration with Hyaluronic Acid

Hydration injections are treatments that use hyaluronic acid as their main ingredient. Hyaluronic acid is known to be capable of holding up to 1,000 times its own weight in moisture, so it may help improve inner dryness and hydration. It is also described as helping improve elasticity, reduce fine lines, and balance oil and moisture levels. Three treatments at intervals of 3–4 weeks are generally recommended, and a course of three treatments is known to last approximately six months to one year. However, the duration may vary from person to person.
Skin Boosters: Different Purposes Depending on the Ingredients

Unlike hydration treatments, which mainly focus on providing immediate moisture, skin boosters are a group of treatments with more specific purposes depending on their ingredients.
Rejuran Healer
This treatment uses PN derived from salmon and focuses on balancing oil and moisture levels, improving inner dryness, supporting skin regeneration, and strengthening the skin barrier.
Juvelook (Skin)
PDLLA and hyaluronic acid are used together to stimulate collagen regeneration, with the goal of improving elasticity, wrinkles, hydration, pores, and depressed scars. It is generally performed once a month.
Retigen
Using high-purity collagen (99%), this treatment is intended to provide immediate effects and addresses loss of volume, fine lines, pores, and skin elasticity. The recommended schedule consists of a second treatment two weeks after the first and a third treatment six weeks later.
Post-Treatment Care

Immediately after a hydration injection, injection marks or a slightly raised, embossed appearance may occur. This is a natural reaction that occurs as the product is absorbed and usually subsides within a few days. You may wash your face 1–3 hours after the treatment, and you can begin wearing light makeup the following day. However, for one week after the treatment, it is best to avoid activities that raise heat in the face, such as strenuous exercise, saunas, Korean-style bathhouses, hot baths, drinking alcohol, and smoking. During this period, be especially thorough with moisturizer and sunscreen.
Rejuran Healer may also cause slight pain, swelling, or minor bleeding immediately after treatment, but these symptoms generally subside within a short time. Embossing or needle marks usually improve within 1–3 days, although this may also vary from person to person. Applying a cold pack for about 1–2 days may help with recovery, and it is best to take care not to raise heat in your face on the day of treatment. Light washing and makeup application are possible from the following day. As with hydration treatments, avoid alcohol, smoking, bathhouses, saunas, and strenuous exercise for one week, and apply moisturizer consistently. Do not forget to use sunscreen when going outdoors.
Recovery time and the results of post-treatment care may vary from person to person. If you have any questions, please confirm them through a consultation.
Choosing the Right Treatment for You

If you simply want an immediate feeling of hydration, a hydration treatment may be suitable. If you have more specific goals, such as regeneration, barrier strengthening, or collagen production, it is best to consult with a professional and choose the ingredient that matches your skin concerns among Rejuran Healer, Juvelook, and Retigen.
