The symptoms of glaucoma vary. First, vision may change,

and blurred vision or eye fatigue may cause changes in eyesight.

Redness may also occur; if the fluid inside the eye

does not drain normally, intraocular pressure increases

and can cause redness.

There may be difficulty recognizing objects in dark spaces, and as the optic nerve is damaged,

problems such as narrowing of the visual field may occur.

In addition, glare may occur, and the area around reflected light

may appear spread out, and pain may be felt around the eyes.

In most cases of glaucoma, there may be no noticeable symptoms in the early to middle stages,

but as the condition progresses, a visual field defect is felt in which part of an object is not visible when looking at it.

In the advanced stage, only part of the visual field may appear blurry while the rest

may not be visible, and it can lead to blindness, so

caution is advised.

Because glaucoma treatment is for a chronically progressive disease,

early detection and treatment are important ways to slow the progression

of the condition.

The goal of glaucoma treatment is to lower intraocular pressure,

and treatment is carried out through eye drops,

laser treatment, procedures, and more.

Because early detection is important in glaucoma, it is recommended that people aged 40 and older

have an annual examination to check for glaucoma.

Also, for regular symptom management, it is good to keep clothing comfortable,

refrain from smoking and alcohol consumption, and avoid positions that cause blood to rush to the head.
