Hello, I’m Seul-gi Lee, the consultation manager at Greeni Dermatology.
We receive inquiries from so many people every day. I suppose that means many of you have similar concerns, right?
"Does Thermage really work?"
"How many months does it last?"
"How is it different from Ultherapy?"
"Is one treatment enough?"
When I look into it myself, there are so many advertisements online, and every clinic only talks about how good its treatment is, which seems to make things even more confusing.
So today, I’d like to honestly answer the questions I receive most often during actual consultations!
Who ultimately needs Thermage?
In fact, I think what matters more than your age is what changes have begun to appear in your skin.
If you notice any of these changes one by one, you may want to consider Thermage!
✔ Your skin feels generally weak and saggy
✔ Your nasolabial folds are gradually becoming more pronounced even when you are not smiling
✔ Your pores are becoming larger, and your skin texture is no longer what it used to be
✔ Your skin is becoming thinner, and fine lines are increasing
From your late 20s onward, collagen and elastin in the skin gradually decrease, weakening the support that holds the skin up.
In particular, during consultations, I explain that aging gradually begins after the age of 25, so taking care of your skin in advance is necessary.
Those who are still young may not notice it yet, but aging really is something you need to prevent ahead of time.
I have come to feel that very deeply myself...
I sometimes think that if someone had told me earlier, it would have helped me prevent it more effectively.
That is also one of the reasons I decided to start writing this blog! I wanted to share stories that could help everyone.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all age beautifully? ♥
So, what exactly is Thermage?
Thermage is not a treatment that simply pulls the surface of the skin tight.
It is a lifting treatment that delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy to the dermis to stimulate collagen regeneration.
That sounds too complicated, doesn’t it..?
Simply put, it is a device that helps loosened skin become denser again over time, allowing the skin to regain its elasticity on its own.
So the reason for getting Thermage is not simply to lift the face,
✔ It helps improve skin elasticity
✔ It makes the facial contours more defined
✔ It helps improve fine lines and pores
✔ It helps maintain your current skin elasticity for longer
Q&A
From now on, I’ll answer, one by one, the questions I receive most often in the consultation room—just for you.
Q1. At what age is it good to start getting Thermage?
Skin elasticity is more important than age. If your facial contours no longer look the way they used to, or you feel that your skin has lost elasticity, it is a good time to start taking care of it.
Q2. When do the effects begin to appear?
You may feel that your skin is firmer immediately after the treatment, but satisfaction is often highest after two to three months, as new collagen is produced.
Q3. How long does it last?
On average, the effects last about one year. However, individual differences may occur depending on your skin condition and lifestyle.
Q4. Is one treatment enough?
You can expect results even after just one treatment. However, because skin aging continues, I recommend regular care approximately once every six months to one year to maintain elasticity for longer.
For reference, I only get treatment about once a year~!!
Q5. How is it different from Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is more focused on lifting sagging skin, while Thermage has greater strengths in improving skin elasticity, fine lines, and skin texture.
Depending on the condition of the skin, the two treatments may also be performed together.
Q6. What difference does the number of shots make?
More shots are not necessarily better.
It is more important to choose an appropriate number of shots based on the size of the face, skin condition, and treatment area.
Q7. Does it hurt?
Pain varies from person to person, but most people find it tolerable.
Because your condition is checked during the treatment as well, you do not need to worry too much.
I am also quite sensitive to pain, but it was tolerable enough for me. It is only once a year~!
What I really want to say
In fact, Thermage is not a treatment that I recommend unconditionally to everyone.
If you are in your early 20s and still have sufficient elasticity,
there is no need to rush into it right now.
On the other hand,
if you are in your 30s to 50s, have lost elasticity,
and your facial contours are beginning to look less defined,
starting care even a little earlier often leads to better results.
I’ll continue to honestly share the questions I receive most often in the consultation room!
