Hello.
I’m Ogana, a board-certified dermatologist with 16 years of experience.

Back in the fall of the year before last, I traveled to Hangzhou on a business trip
to personally inspect the site for Ogana Cell’s first clinic in China.

The main purpose of this trip was
to check the site for the first clinic
and to meet with our Chinese partner company.
It was a suddenly arranged 2-night, 3-day trip,
so the schedule was tight, but
I was able to see and learn a great deal.

I had visited Hangzhou once before,
but on this trip,
I could especially feel for myself how quickly this place is growing.

What kind of place is Hangzhou,
where Ogana Cell’s first clinic in China will be located?
Hangzhou is one of the rapidly developing emerging cities in China.
In particular, as the IT and media industries have concentrated here,
young companies have been flocking in.

It is also home to the headquarters of Alibaba,
a leading IT company in China.

Recently, various businesses related to Wanghong
(major influencers in China)
have been actively taking place,
and the city is emerging as a new economic hub.
The site for Ogana Cell’s first clinic that I visited
is a high-end commercial district located along the Qiantang River in Hangzhou,
and it gives a feeling similar to Banpo or Dongbu Ichon-dong in Korea.

The site itself is quite large,
and the building structure was also impressive.

On the first floor, there is an art museum and various restaurants,

and the second floor has a Japanese restaurant, a café, and more.
Ogana Cell is scheduled to move in on the third floor,
and we plan to make efficient use of the large space
to arrange consultation rooms, treatment rooms, and counseling rooms.

Considering the building’s location and environment,
I became convinced that this place will become
a noteworthy space in Hangzhou in the future.

After finishing the site visit,
I held a long meeting with our Chinese partner company.
As we had in-depth discussions about the direction of the Ogana Cell brand
and future operating plans,
before I knew it, it was already evening.
The meeting ran long and I was getting tired,
but I decided to push through for the dinner I had been looking forward to.

The first night’s dinner was also very special.
The dinner venue was a 50-story restaurant located in central Hangzhou.

The seafood shabu-shabu, enjoyed with a view overlooking the entire city,
was truly special.

The way everyone poured broth into their own individual pots
and cooked ingredients to their own taste was especially impressive.

The ingredients were fresh,
and the seasoning sauces had a different charm from those in Korea,
so I was able to experience a unique flavor.

It was a satisfying dinner in every respect:
the atmosphere, the taste, and the service.

We stayed busy on the last day as well.
The final day of the business trip was not one I could spend leisurely.

In the morning, we visited a new business site of our Chinese partner,
Xinmi Group.
Not only in Hangzhou,
but also in the surrounding satellite cities,
development was actively underway.

In particular, the place we visited this time was a new city about 15 minutes from Hangzhou,
and it was an area where the government is actively working to attract companies.

It was revitalizing the city by providing land to companies
and supporting tax incentives.
Thanks to these policies, many companies
have been taking an interest in the area.
It is even said that a high-speed rail line connecting Hangzhou and Shanghai
will be built here.
The trip from Shanghai to Hangzhou
takes only about 45 minutes by high-speed rail.

Thanks to this, travel between the two cities is expected to become
very convenient, and this seems likely to be a positive factor for Ogana Cell’s expansion plans after the first clinic in China.
What I felt on this business trip
Through this trip to China,
I was able to see and feel many things.
The first is that China is truly huge.
In Korea, even large cities are not particularly difficult to get around in,
but in China, even a single city is enormous.
The roads are wide and the buildings are grand,
so when I return to Korea, the spaces feel comparatively smaller
and even a bit cramped.
The second is that the Chinese market is not easy.
The Chinese market has many opportunities,
but competition is fierce and the pace of change is very fast.
That made me realize once again that thorough preparation and an understanding of the local market
are essential.
The schedule was short and intense, so it was physically demanding,
but it was a very meaningful time for organizing our direction going forward.

We will continue preparing and developing so that
Ogana Cell’s first clinic in China can establish itself successfully,
so please stay tuned and show your support! 😊
