Hello.
I’m OganA, a dermatologist with 16 years of experience.
In my practice, there is one question I get asked about fillers more than any other.
Do fillers spread?
Can nose fillers cause blindness?

I’d like to talk about the truth behind these two myths,
and everything about fillers.
Q1. If you get fillers, do they spread and become dangerous?
First of all, fillers are much safer ingredients than many people think.
The main ingredient, hyaluronic acid,
is a human-friendly substance that also exists in our body’s dermis, cartilage, and more.

There may be a slight spreading effect after the procedure,
but that is not a problem.
It is part of the process of settling within the skin layer.
Because filler is a soft gel form,
it blends naturally with the surrounding tissue
and softly refines the contours of the face.
So rather than saying it “spreads,”
it is better to think of it as a normal process
of settling inside the skin.
Q2. Nose filler causes blindness? The truth about side effects
It is theoretically possible,
but in reality it is a very rare case.
Blindness can occur rarely when filler blocks
or compresses the blood vessels leading to the eye.

However, these side effects usually occur
in cases where the blood vessel structure is unusual
or there is an abnormality.
(They are very rare in normal anatomical structures.)
If your vision becomes blurry or dim,
it is important to visit a clinic immediately and receive an injection to dissolve the filler.
Types of filler recommended by a specialist
I use different types of filler
depending on the area.
- Belotero: contour correction for the nose or lip line
- Juvederm: forehead or volume enhancement

Relatively safe areas for filler procedures are
the nose, chin tip, forehead, and under the cheekbones.
These areas do not have large blood vessels running through them,
so the procedure can be performed more safely.
For nose filler, I recommend using a cannula rather than a needle.
Filler myths... what matters most?

Today, I talked about
the misunderstandings and truths behind filler myths.
Rather than being afraid of fillers,
choosing the right practitioner for you
is the wisest approach.
Have you heard any other filler myths?
(If so, please share them in the comments^^)
