Hello.
We are Oji Ko Anplus, focusing only on rhinoplasty for 15 years.
The case introduced this time is a bulbous nose surgery review for a nose with a lot of tissue at the tip.
What is a bulbous nose? A nose with a round and blunt tip is called a bulbous nose.
There are roughly four main causes of a bulbous nose.
-
When there is a lot of subcutaneous fat at the tip of the nose
-
When the cartilage at the tip of the nose is spread apart
-
When the nostrils are wide
-
When the cartilage at the tip of the nose is large
This patient had a wide and low bridge, and the skin at the tip of the nose was thick, so when viewed from the front,
the nose looked very spread out and lacked definition, which led to choosing bulbous nose surgery.
This patient is a typical female bulbous nose type, with a spread-out tip and a case that required correction of the bridge height.

The details of this patient's bulbous nose surgery were
bilateral nasal osteotomy + tip fat removal + autologous costal cartilage for the tip + silicone for the nasal bridge.

The images above are mini charts actually used during consultations at Anplus. We explain the surgical method by drawing it out.
Dr. Yoon Hyun-cheol's surgical notes
Using autologous costal cartilage, a support was created at the tip of the nose, and subcutaneous fat was removed to make the thick-looking tip appear slimmer.
The volume of the cartilage at the tip of the nose was reduced, and cartilage suturing was performed.
In addition, osteotomy was performed to improve the appearance of a low, wide bridge so that the nasal bridge would look more defined from the front.
Nasal bridge: 6 mm silicone
Tip: bilateral nasal osteotomy + use of autologous costal cartilage + removal of subcutaneous fat at the tip + cartilage suturing at the tip

Anplus bulbous nose surgery point
Raising the tip of the nose can make it look slimmer, but to enhance that effect even more,
subcutaneous fat and cartilage repositioning were performed together to maximize the frontal effect.
Costal cartilage harvest: 40 minutes
Surgery time: 1 hour 30 minutes

Bulbous nose surgery is considered one of the most difficult types of nose surgery.
The causes of a bulbous nose are broadly classified into four types, and the surgical method needed varies greatly depending on the cause.
If the appropriate surgical method is not performed, satisfaction may be low, increasing the likelihood of revision surgery or even a second revision surgery,
so the surgery must be performed according to the patient's specific bulbous nose type.
At Anplus, 3D-CT and additional endoscopic imaging are performed to accurately identify the cause of the bulbous nose,
and the necessary surgical method is determined through two expert consultations in total.
That concludes the Anplus bulbous nose surgery review.
We introduced the bulbous nose surgery review as above, and we hope this article is very helpful for those who are concerned about a bulbous nose. :D
Thank you^^
