"I want lifting, but some people say Ulthermage is good, and others say Sylfirm is the latest. What should I choose?"
"I’m spending a lot of money, so I don’t want to regret it. What criteria should I use?"
"I really can’t decide between a proven procedure and the latest technology."
When you start looking into lifting procedures, you may find yourself caught up in these concerns. In particular, it is not easy to choose between a long-proven combination like Ulthermage and a newer technology like Sylfirm.

If you searched for Hongdae Ulthermage, you probably already thought this through quite a bit. Today, I’ll objectively compare the clear differences between the two procedures and explain who each one is suitable for.
Profile

Hello, I’m Director Jo Won-jin of Chai Clinic.
After performing lifting procedures in Hongdae for 9 years, one of the questions I get most often is, "Which lifting treatment should I get?" Recently, with the addition of a new option called Sylfirm, I think people have become even more unsure.
Based on my experience introducing Sylfirm equipment for the first time in Mapo-gu and my 9 years of Ulthermage treatment experience, I’d like to give you a very honest and objective comparison today. For those considering Hongdae Ulthermage, I’ll provide practical criteria to help you make a smart choice.
Ulthermage vs. Sylfirm
First, let’s understand exactly what each procedure is.
Ulthermage is a combination of two procedures: Ulthera and Thermage. Ulthera uses high-intensity focused ultrasound to target the deepest fascial layer (the SMAS layer) and create powerful lifting, while Thermage uses radiofrequency to stimulate collagen in the subdermal layer and improve skin texture.

On the other hand, Sylfirm is the latest radiofrequency lifting device released in May 2024. Using two wavelengths, it can be performed in three modes: Shallow, Middle, and Deep, and with four tips it allows personalized treatment tailored to each individual.

The biggest difference is right here. Ulthermage is a "combination of two proven procedures," while Sylfirm is a treatment that enables "comprehensive care with a single device."
Ulthermage vs. Sylfirm, what’s the difference?
So what are the specific differences?

From the perspective of data and validation:
Hongdae Ulthermage’s biggest strength is the more than 10 years of accumulated data. Both Ulthera and Thermage are long-validated procedures, and Ulthermage as a combination also provides predictable satisfaction. In contrast, Sylfirm has been on the market for only about a year, so there is still a lack of long-term data. Looking at accumulated data alone, Ulthermage has the advantage.

From the perspective of treatment convenience:
Sylfirm is overwhelmingly more convenient. No anesthesia is needed, and with 600 shots the procedure is finished in about 30–40 minutes. Ulthermage takes longer because Ulthera requires anesthesia and you need to receive both procedures.

From the perspective of satisfaction:
Ulthermage covers all skin layers, from the fascial layer to the dermis, and can improve facial contours and skin texture at the same time. Even though Sylfirm is a radiofrequency device, it can deliver energy to deeper layers, and in the case of the EFFECTOR 60 tip, its area is 1.5 times larger than Thermage, so 600 Sylfirm shots can deliver a level of satisfaction similar to 840 Thermage shots. Of course, it is still different from Ulthermage, but I have to give a slight edge to the newer device, Sylfirm.

Ulthermage vs. Sylfirm, selection criteria?
So how should you choose?
Good candidates for Ulthermage:
It is suitable for people who have an important event coming up and want a relatively more certain and predictable level of satisfaction through a longer-term investment of time, people who value the stability of proven procedures, and people who have the time and want comprehensive care.

Good candidates for Sylfirm:
It suits people with busy schedules and limited time, people sensitive to pain, people who prefer the latest technology, and people who value personalized treatment.

However, don’t forget that no two skins are the same. No matter how good a procedure is, if it does not match your skin condition and goals, it will be difficult to achieve satisfying results.
Whether it is Hongdae Ulthermage or Sylfirm, the most important thing is to identify through a detailed consultation which procedure you truly need.

Since you are investing a significant amount of money in your skin, please carefully consider the practitioner’s experience and the quality of the consultation process.
I hope this information helps those of you looking into Hongdae Ulthermage make a wise choice.
This was Chai Clinic, customizing your beauty. Thank you.
