Hello, I’m Dr. Jo Wonjin, and I’ve been practicing medicine for 10 years.

If nose filler is done wrong, it can look like an avatar
and turn into a chalk-like nose..
Necrosis side effect? Does that mean you shouldn’t get it?
Our staff members also receive nose filler from me,
and even our longest-serving employee is still maintaining it satisfactorily without side effects.

You can think of nose procedures in the same way as construction.
Only when the material selection, design, and foundation work are all done properly
can you create a beautiful nose while minimizing side effects.
Under the topic “Hongdae Nose Filler Side Effects: Don’t Regret It — Get It Done Like This,”
I’ll show you the procedure standards for reducing side effects, along with our staff members’ treatment cases.
If you read just this post, you won’t end up regretting getting it done.

Why does the avatar nose phenomenon, where the nose looks spread out to the sides, happen?
There are really many possible causes depending on the case, but typically it happens because
the product was too soft, or too much was injected at once.
The nose is an area where the skin pressure is strong.
If you use a cheap, soft product,
it may look pretty at first, but over time it’s easy for the shape to spread sideways without support.
The reason I insist on imported products with good viscosity and elasticity, like Juvederm, is also because of this.

(I get too many people who came in after getting it done cheaply, then ask me to dissolve it because it spread...
There are many good domestic botulinum toxin products, but for Hongdae nose filler, imported products are still far superior.
Dissolving it is also easiest at the clinic that performed the procedure, so please contact your previous clinic first.)

Also, the pre-treatment process before the procedure is very important.
You need to carefully and narrowly dissect the space where the filler will go in advance,
so it doesn’t spread to the wrong place and can settle exactly into the slim line we want.
If you dissect unnecessarily broad areas, the bridge line will also end up looking thicker.
The most important thing is: don’t get greedy with filler.
If you want a dramatic change, surgery is the right option.
- When filler is needed, when thread lifting is needed
If your nose bridge is low and your nose is small, I would absolutely not recommend getting filler just to “raise it up.”
Since everyone’s nasal structure and skin thickness are different,
the situations where filler is advantageous and where thread lifting is better are clearly divided.
The solutions also become much clearer depending on how many different noses you’ve treated.
When you consult in the clinic, it’s good to observe how the practitioner approaches the case^^
Cases where filler is better
- When only part of the bridge is sunken:
If the bridge is present overall but only one area is depressed, it’s better to lightly fill only the sunken part.
If you look at the photo below, you can see that only the bridge of our staff member’s nose was slightly filled, right?

- When the nasal bridge is wide:
Since there is already a bone structure, even slightly raising only the center of the bridge can make the nose look much narrower visually.
Cases where thread lifting is better
- When the nasal bridge is thin or crooked:
A firm thread is inserted to support the crooked area like a brace, and the line is created in detail.
Our staff member had undergone Hongdae nose filler procedures several times before, and the line became crooked, so correction was needed.
In cases like this, thread lifting gives a much better result.
Several previous treatment experiences and a crooked nose: this is our staff member’s case, treated with thread lifting
- Tip height / nasolabial angle adjustment:
Because the tip has many blood vessels, it is safer and more aesthetically pleasing to raise it neatly with thread lifting rather than filler.
Of course, the above is only a simplified explanation, so it won’t always turn out exactly like that.
For some noses, adjusting the width of the nostrils with botulinum toxin can be much better in terms of satisfaction.
If the existing filler has clumped too much or spread out too much, you may need to dissolve all of it and rebuild the bridge from scratch.
The key is to get an accurate diagnosis of what type of nose you have and design the procedure accordingly.
Multiple methods may need to be used in combination.
- What to check if you’re afraid of side effects
The nose has one of the most complex vascular structures on the face, and the skin tension is strong,
so it is a highly advanced treatment area where severe side effects such as skin necrosis or blindness can occur.
That is why it is fair to say that it depends on the skill and technique of the medical staff.

There is always a reason if something is cheap.
Rather than price, you should choose a clinic with abundant clinical experience improving difficult noses, such as noses that have undergone Hongdae nose filler multiple times or crooked noses.
Only then can they respond safely to unexpected side effects,
and create a good shape even under unfavorable conditions.
I wrote more about the risks in the post below.
Especially if you have plans for nose surgery, you must mention that during the consultation.
For simulation purposes before surgery, getting it done once may be fine,
but repeated procedures right before surgery can cause tissue adhesions and negatively affect the surgical result.
That’s why, if someone comes in for a repeat procedure while surgery is planned, we tend to turn them away.
Even if a patient wants a procedure in a high-risk area, a doctor should know when to refuse.
If you’re having trouble choosing a dermatology clinic, be sure to read the post below.
Summary: remember this for sure
-
Material and technique: Choose a firm filler that doesn’t spread, such as Juvederm, and pre-treatment that carefully creates the space is essential.
-
Custom design: For a crooked nose or the tip, thread lifting may be more effective than Hongdae nose filler. Avoid overinjection.
-
Choosing a clinic: Find experienced medical staff with extensive experience in difficult cases, and be honest about plans such as surgery.

It may seem simple, but small details can determine satisfaction — or leave behind irreversible regret.
Please carefully review the criteria I shared today and make your decision thoughtfully.
Thank you. This was Jo Wonjin.
