Hello, I’m Dr. Jo Won-jin, and I’ve been seeing patients for 10 years.

Doctor, is HB really less painful?
Won’t the effect be weaker?
Rejuran Healer, often called the representative skin booster.
Many people visit after hearing that it is excellent for skin regeneration, but once it comes time to receive it, they often feel conflicted.
The reason is its notoriously strong pain.
Through this post, under the topic of the difference in pain and effects between Rejuran and Rejuran HB,
I’ll explain the differences between the two products based on medical evidence.
Just by reading this, you should get a sense of which one is right for you.
Before we begin, if you’re curious about my own experience after receiving it myself, please see the post below^^

- The difference in pain between Rejuran and Rejuran HB
Many people simply think it hurts because a needle goes in, but the pain is closely related to the viscosity of the product.
Healer (Original)
It is 100% PN extracted from salmon DNA.
This ingredient has a large molecular size and a sticky, viscous texture, so when it is injected into the dermis, it creates strong pressure that pushes against the surrounding tissue.
This process causes a heavy, tight pain.
HB Plus
The key is that it contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic ingredient.
Because the anesthetic spreads into the skin at the same time as the procedure, it reduces pain by about 50% or more compared with the existing Healer product.
In fact, even people who gave up because of pain often continue to receive HB Plus, saying, “This is manageable.”

- The difference in ingredients between Rejuran and Rejuran HB
Looking at the ingredient composition, it is clear that the two products aim for different things.
Healer (Original)
It focuses solely on PN ingredients.
It helps regenerate aging or damaged skin at its source,
and is excellent for strengthening the skin barrier by increasing skin thickness.
Simply put, it is a highly concentrated supplement that builds your skin’s basic resilience.

HB Plus
Hyaluronic acid has been added to the PN ingredient.
Hyaluronic acid is an ingredient that attracts up to 1,000 times its own weight in moisture.
To put it another way, if the original Healer is like sturdy bricks that fill in collapsed skin,
HB Plus is like generously applying a moist cement of hydration between those bricks.
So, along with the regenerative effect, you also get an immediate dewy glow effect.

- The difference in formulation and embo recovery time between Rejuran and Rejuran HB
The embo phenomenon, where small raised bumps appear immediately after treatment, is a natural part of skin booster procedures,
but for people who need to go about their daily lives, it can be quite a concern.
Healer (Original)
The formulation is firm and elastic, so it takes some time to absorb.
Depending on the skin type, the embo may last 2–3 days, and in some cases up to a week.
HB Plus
Because hyaluronic acid is blended in, the formulation is much softer and more fluid.
It spreads into the skin more quickly during injection, so the embo settles down faster than with the original.
Usually, by the next day after treatment, it becomes smooth enough not to interfere with daily life.

- Summary of differences
| Category | Rejuran Healer | HB Plus |
|---|
| Main ingredients | 100% PN | PN + hyaluronic acid + anesthetic ingredient |
| Level of pain | Very high | Moderate (50% less than before) |
| Embo recovery | Moderate to slow | Relatively fast |
| Volume and cost-effectiveness | 2 cc per syringe (good value) | 1 cc per syringe |
| Recommended for | Strong regeneration, severe dryness, improved elasticity | People sensitive to pain, inner dryness, immediate dewy glow |

As shown in the photo, fine lines are reduced, and the skin texture and complexion improve.
- Personalized recommendations by purpose
Neither more expensive nor less painful is automatically the right answer.
The wise choice is the one that fits your own situation.
People who should choose Healer (Original)
People who can tolerate pain well and want clear value for money from a single treatment session (the volume is double at the same price).
People whose top priority is structural skin regeneration, such as thin skin, fine lines, or enlarged pores.

Receiving it by manual injection like this is much more effective than using a machine.
People who should choose HB Plus
People who are hesitating to undergo the procedure because they are afraid of pain.
People who need a quick recovery because they have an important event or photo shoot coming up.
People who want to quickly address severe inner dryness, not just skin regeneration.

This is what the procedure looks like when performed using an injector (machine). I did it myself, so that was the case, but I recommend that you receive it as a manual injection. The loss with manual injection is clearly smaller.
Closing remarks
With Rejuran, just as important as which product you choose
is the skill to inject it accurately at the proper depth for your skin thickness and the area of concern.
