Hello. I’m Dr. Jo Won-jin, and I’ve been practicing in Hongdae for 10 years.

No matter how much you exercise,
this area just will not go away.
When I meet patients in the consultation room,
there are many people who feel stressed because of stubborn fat in specific areas.
In particular, the lower abdomen, the double chin that shows whenever you lower your head,
and the upper arms and thighs are areas that are difficult to address with diet alone.
Today, under the topic of “Hongdae Fat-Dissolving Injections: What Are the Results for the Abdomen, Upper Arms, and Double Chin?”
I’ll explain how fat-dissolving injections, often chosen as an alternative to liposuction, actually work,
and what results can be expected in each area.

- How Hongdae Fat-Dissolving Injections Work
Hongdae fat-dissolving injections are not a single type of injection,
but a general term for several injection methods used to reduce fat.
Broadly speaking, they work through two main mechanisms.
- Destroying fat cells
Ingredients such as deoxycholic acid directly break down the membrane of fat cells,
reducing the number of cells themselves. This mechanism is often used in localized areas such as the double chin.
- Reducing fat volume
It loosens clustered fat and helps lymphatic circulation so that it can be eliminated from the body.
It may also help improve cellulite.
- Analysis of Results for the Abdomen and Double Chin
The abdomen and double chin are areas where satisfaction after fat-dissolving injections is especially high.
If you look at the abdominal treatment case below,
you can see that the line of the lower abdomen and the side contour have been refined.
The photo above shows the progress after a combination treatment on the abdomen, including fat-dissolving injections and radiofrequency.
Because the abdominal subcutaneous fat layer is thicker than in other areas,
the key is to carefully inject the medication in layers to reduce the overall volume.
The photo above was a case treated with a combination of HPL injections, radiofrequency, and Ulfit.
It showed good improvement in less than a month.
There are also cases where another treatment would be more suitable than fat-dissolving injections from the start.
The photo above is a case in which the abdomen improved greatly with radiofrequency lifting alone, without fat-dissolving injections.
The photo above shows a case managed with a radiofrequency lifting device without fat-dissolving injections.
Depending on the skin condition and the situation, the most suitable treatment can differ.
In the case of a double chin, as shown in the photo below, the line running from under the chin to the neck becomes smoother.
The photo above shows the progress after fat-dissolving injections were performed on the double chin.
However, for a double chin, it is important to determine whether the issue is simply fat,
or whether the skin has sagged due to aging.
If fat is the only cause, injections alone can be effective,
but if reduced elasticity is also present, combining the treatment with lifting procedures leads to much more efficient results.

- Precautions Before Treating the Upper Arms and Thighs
The upper arms and thighs require a different approach from the abdomen or double chin.
The upper arms contain a significant amount of muscle (the triceps) as well as fat, and the skin is thin,
so if the treatment is done poorly, there is a risk that the skin surface may look uneven.
Before treating the upper arms, it is important to have the patient raise their arms or to examine the area directly to determine whether it is a “fat type,” “muscle type,”
or “edema type.”

For the thighs as well, if the fat is firmly clumped or cellulite is severe,
the results may be less effective than in those who do not have these issues.
In such cases, it is more advantageous to first use devices such as radiofrequency or ultrasound to improve lymphatic circulation,
relax the cellulite, and then perform the injections.
Rather than proceeding with treatment unconditionally, it is necessary to consider skin condition, amount of fat, muscle distribution, and so on
to find the method that can maximize the effect.

- How to Improve the Effect of Hongdae Fat-Dissolving Injections
- Treatment interval
Some people want to shorten the interval because they want to see results quickly,
but I do not recommend that.
After all, it is a stimulus to the body, so as the inflammatory response subsides,
you need to allow enough time for recovery so that regeneration can proceed stably.
- Diet control
When insulin levels rise due to a high-carbohydrate diet, the body shifts into fat-storage mode.
The fat that was carefully broken down by the injections can easily be replenished in the fat cells.
So, combining the treatment with dietary management can maximize the effect.
In addition, it is important to check whether the doctor personally analyzes the patient’s body shape and provides a 1:1 customized plan,
and whether you receive a sufficient explanation of possible side effects before deciding.

- Frequently Asked Questions (Q&A)
Q. When do the effects appear, and how long do they last?
A. Although it varies by person, most people begin to feel the line look lighter about 1 to 2 weeks after the procedure.
If you maintain proper dietary control and lifestyle habits after the procedure, you can keep the satisfying results longer.
Q. How many sessions are needed?
A. The number of sessions varies depending on the amount of fat, and there is no fixed number for each area.
Some people see a certain level of improvement after just one session.
The safer approach is to monitor the progress and perform the procedure with enough time between sessions.

Key Summary of Hongdae Fat-Dissolving Injections
Fat-dissolving injections are a very effective method for correcting the lines of concern in areas such as the abdomen, double chin, upper arms, and thighs.
However, only when accurate diagnosis based on the characteristics of each area and precise treatment are supported
can risks be reduced and satisfying results be achieved.

Thank you. This was Jo Won-jin.
