Hello. I’m Wonjin Cho, the director of Chai Clinic, where I have been providing dermatological care in Hapjeong for 10 years.

It’s been a month since I started exercising, but the fat around my sides is still there…
I’m even watching my diet, so why won’t the fat under my chin go away?
I really need to lose weight before summer arrives this time.
People who visit us for diet consultations in Hongdae have one thing in common.
They have already tried exercising,
and they have also tried adjusting their diet.
But they still cannot lose that last bit,
or there are certain areas that simply do not slim down.
So eventually, they come to the clinic.

Today, I would like to honestly explain to those considering a diet in Hapjeong
when a clinic can genuinely help—and when it cannot.
I have organized this around points that you can use to assess your own situation.
If you take just three minutes to read this, your current diet may go more smoothly.

When can a clinic help with dieting in Hapjeong?
Clinic treatments can be meaningful for people who have difficulty losing fat in specific areas rather than losing weight overall.
For example, people whose overall weight is within the normal range but who have extra fullness only under the chin, around the sides, or in part of the abdomen;
people whose body-fat percentage is relatively low but whose facial contours look less defined;
or people who have lost weight through dieting but whose body lines still do not seem to take shape.

On the other hand, if your overall weight is considerably above the standard range, dietary changes, exercise, and an internal-medicine approach should come before treatments. Contouring injections and fat-dissolving injections are not weight-loss medications; they are supplementary methods for refining the lines of specific areas.
It is important to clarify this from the beginning
so that you are not disappointed after treatment.

What is the difference between fat-dissolving injections and contouring injections?
Although the names sound similar,
their target areas and purposes are different.
Contouring injections are mainly used for facial lines,
and address swelling, the removal of waste products, and mild fat breakdown together.

The photo above shows the area under the chin after a contouring injection treatment.
Fat-dissolving injections are used on body areas such as the abdomen, sides, thighs, and upper arms,
and work directly on the fat cells themselves.
The selection criteria are simple:
What area do you want to refine, and to what extent?
However, this assessment is only accurate when the area is examined directly by touch.
Even in the abdomen, suitability for treatment can differ completely depending on whether the area is mainly affected by subcutaneous fat or visceral fat.

Recommending fat-dissolving injections to someone with a large amount of visceral fat honestly has limited significance.
In such cases, dietary changes and aerobic exercise should come first.
Three things to check when choosing a diet clinic in Hapjeong
Rather than comparing clinics based on advertising copy,
I recommend looking at the following three criteria.
First, does the clinic tell you, “Treatment is not suitable in this case” when appropriate?
Rather than a clinic that recommends treatment to everyone,
a clinic that honestly turns you away when a treatment does not fit your case is ultimately the safer choice.

Second, does it clearly explain the injection ingredients and treatment schedule?
The combinations of ingredients used in contouring and fat-dissolving injections
differ from clinic to clinic.
You have the right to know
which ingredients are being injected.

Third, does it provide guidance on changes at each session and aftercare?
There are very few treatments that end after a single session.
Treatment is generally carried out over an average of four to six sessions,
and care between sessions affects more than half of the outcome.
Q. Can I also receive prescriptions for appetite suppressants or Saxenda?
Dermatology clinics may also prescribe these after a doctor’s consultation,
depending on your BMI and health status.
However, these are not weight-loss drugs;
they are medical tools that help control appetite.
The decision is made only after first checking for underlying conditions, medications you are taking, and individual factors.
If there is a place near Hapjeong that quickly provides prescriptions without a consultation,
it is better to be especially cautious and question that practice.

As shown in the photo above, I also have personal experience undergoing weight reduction with Wegovy.
Appetite suppressants are medications for which managing side effects is just as important as issuing the prescription.
In particular, because short-term use is the general principle for psychoactive appetite suppressants,
it is safer to avoid places that readily provide long-term prescriptions.
How should you start dieting in Hapjeong?
First, check which of the following best describes your situation.
✔ You generally need to lose weight
→ Combine dietary changes and exercise with an appetite-suppressant consultation if necessary.
✔ Your weight is appropriate, but you are concerned about specific body lines
→ Consult about contouring injections or fat-dissolving injections.
✔ You are concerned about sagging skin and body lines after dieting
→ Consult about tightening treatments using radiofrequency or HIFU.
Even getting this distinction right
can cut the uncertainty of “Where should I start?” in half.

If you have decided to start dieting in the Hapjeong area,
it is important to begin by assessing which stage you are currently at.
Closing remarks
For those searching for information about dieting in Hapjeong, there is something I would particularly like to say:
A clinic is not magic, but when you feel stuck, it can help you find a realistic direction.
Whether it is an area that will not slim down despite exercise and dietary changes,
body lines that are recovering slowly after childbirth,
or abdominal weight in an office worker who attends many company dinners,
getting an honest consultation tailored to your situation is the first step.
Thank you. This was Wonjin Cho.
