Hello, I’m Lee Seong-jun, Chief Director at Reting Plastic Surgery Seoul Branch.
Wrinkles on the face have long been considered traces of time.
There was also a time when, as skin sagged and wrinkles formed with age, people felt they simply had to accept it as a natural part of life.
However, with the development of facelift techniques that improve wrinkles and sagging, accepting signs of aging as inevitable has become a thing of the past.
A facelift can produce dramatic results and last a long time after just one procedure, so many people have sought it out. But some people still find it burdensome.
For that reason, another type of lifting procedure was developed to deliver facelift-like results while reducing the burden.
That is the mini facelift I’ll introduce today.

Why is a facelift burdensome?
The reason many people feel reluctant about a facelift is the large incision area.
The incision had to start from the side of the eyebrow and extend along the hairline to a point close to the back of the head.
A large incision area was burdensome in itself and also raised various concerns, such as postoperative scarring and pain.
For those reasons, many people chose lifting procedures focused on simple treatments instead of surgery.
However, compared with surgery, lifting procedures had the drawback of producing less noticeable results and not lasting very long.
That made them less suitable for people who wanted a more dramatic change in their face.
So, after much research, the mini facelift was developed.

What is a mini facelift?
A mini facelift is a lifting procedure performed through small incisions inside the scalp and around the sideburn area.
Because the incision area is much smaller than that of a facelift, it can be a good alternative for people who are concerned about surgical marks or incision size.
Although the maintenance period is shorter than that of a facelift, it has the advantage of showing improvement quickly.
For this reason, it can be an appropriate option for people who want results that last longer than a simple procedure but feel burdened by major surgery.

What is another advantage?
Another advantage is the quick recovery period.
Because the incision itself is not large, swelling and pain are reduced accordingly.
There may not be zero swelling after surgery, but it is limited to the level of swelling seen after thread lifting, so daily life is still fully possible.
After one to two days, the swelling subsides completely, so if even a little swelling is a concern, resting for at most two days is enough.

Who is a mini facelift recommended for?
As such, compared with a facelift, a mini facelift has a shorter maintenance period, but compared with procedures, it clearly has several advantages as a lifting option.
So what kind of improvement can you expect from it?
This method can improve sagging skin and the fascia, and may be useful for people whose overall facial line, including the cheeks, has sagged.
It is also one of the useful options for people with asymmetry on both sides of the jaw or severe nasolabial folds.

Are there any side effects?
No matter how small it is, it is still a surgery that involves an incision, so some issues can occur afterward.
Typical examples include hair loss at the incision site, swelling, and pain.
At our clinic, we are aware that these issues can occur, so we have prepared countermeasures as well.
If hair loss symptoms occur, we provide care using recovery injections, and for pain, we provide care using Hi-Lite laser.

Today, we looked at the maintenance period and effects of a mini facelift.
Even though lifting procedures have become much more common recently, they are still techniques in which skill matters greatly.
At our clinic, we perform surgeries tailored to each individual, based on the expertise gained from dedicating ourselves to lifting procedures alone.
Although the maintenance period may be somewhat shorter than that of a facelift, this lifting option may be worth considering if you want faster visible improvement.
If you have been worried about a major surgery or a long recovery time, please refer to today’s article and consider making a youthful return once again.
Be younger tomorrow than you are today!
