Fat grafting

Fat grafting is also called fat injection.

Because it is a delicate and precise fat grafting procedure,

it is also referred to as micro fat grafting.

Using a syringe, your own fat is harvested,

and then injected again into the desired area with a syringe

to correct the facial contour.

The key to micro fat grafting is

natural, soft contour expression and a high engraftment rate.

Using 3D fat grafting and 2D flat fat grafting,

the most ideal fat grafting is performed for each area.

Except for bone surgery such as the cheekbones and jawbone,

contour surgery for other sunken areas

can be corrected with fat grafting.

The procedure is simple and has no side effects,

and any area can be naturally corrected as much as desired,

3D fat grafting

Micro fat grafting using a syringe includes flat fat grafting and 3D fat grafting.

When fat is grafted only in one layer, it is 2D flat fat grafting.

On the other hand, when fat is grafted into multiple layers of tissue, it is 3D fat grafting.

In most fat grafting procedures, performing 3D fat grafting is effective for creating soft contours and achieving a high fat engraftment rate.

3D fat grafting refers to distributing small amounts evenly across multiple layers in each area.

The advantages of 3D fat grafting are that it can achieve a high fat engraftment rate and a uniform, soft contour.

If a large amount of fat is grafted into one area, the fat cells do not receive enough nutrient supply, so a significant portion is absorbed and disappears, making it difficult to expect good results.

Therefore, even if the same amount is grafted, distributing it in small units across multiple layers helps maximize fat engraftment and achieve a soft contour.

2D flat fat grafting

2D flat fat grafting means grafting only into one layer of tissue, so large amounts of fat cannot be grafted, and there is also the problem of a high absorption rate because a large amount of fat is grafted into one area.

However, there are exceptional areas where 2D flat fat grafting must be performed.

For example, in the case of sunken upper eyelids, grafting should be done into the fat layer beneath the muscle layer to achieve good functional and aesthetic results.

The advantage of 2D flat fat grafting is that it can achieve a soft contour by grafting thinly in areas where the tissue is thin.

Results when a large amount of fat is grafted into one area

Thinking that grafting a lot of fat at once is effective and forcing too much fat into one area is not a good method.

Blood vessels cannot grow into the center of the fat, so the fat tissue becomes necrotic.

In other words, because it is absorbed and disappears, forcing a large amount of fat grafting into one area is not a desirable procedure method.

Therefore, grafting fat evenly in multiple layers and multiple areas can be considered an effective fat grafting method.

Micro fat grafting

There are two methods of fat grafting: one is surgically cutting out fat from the donor site in a lump and grafting it into the recipient site through an incision, and the other is harvesting fat with a syringe and grafting the gel-like fat with a syringe.

Micro fat grafting is a method used to increase the fat engraftment rate by grafting small amounts, about the size of millet grains, to many areas using a syringe.

Even if a large lump of fat is grafted into one place, the fat in the center will become necrotic before blood vessels grow into it, so the effect is reduced even if a large amount of fat is grafted into one place.

The concept of micro fat grafting is to increase the engraftment rate of the transplanted fat cells.

Equipment for micro fat grafting

For micro fat grafting, a thin liposuction cannula for harvesting fat and a micro fat grafting cannula for injection are needed.

In the past, fat was harvested with a thick liposuction cannula and then grafted with a mechanical fat injector, which did not allow delicate grafting. However, today, because fat cells are harvested finely and gently with a thin cannula, delicate grafting is possible even with a thin micro fat grafting cannula.

It has become possible to perform procedures in areas that previously could not be treated, such as under the eyes and forehead wrinkles, where precision is required.

Appearance and testing of micro fat grafting

The key to micro fat grafting is that it must be possible to graft even with a thin cannula.

The thinner the cannula, the more delicate the grafting and the higher the engraftment rate.

Usually, a cannula as thin as the one used for blood vessel injections should be used so that delicate grafting in small, millet-grain-sized units is possible, increasing the effectiveness of the procedure.

What is Col-fat fat grafting?

After micro fat grafting is performed, the grafted fat engrafts as capillaries form around it.

The engraftment process takes at least three months, during which time the fat may melt away because it has not become vascularized, or it may be crushed and disappear due to pressure from the surrounding tissue.

Therefore, in some cases, increasing volume with fat alone is not enough. To compensate for this, Col-fat fat grafting induces collagen production so that fat engraftment is improved while creating younger, more elastic skin and contours.

Comparison between fat grafting and filling materials (fillers)

Various filling materials (fillers) are sold to correct facial wrinkles and scars, and are used in plastic surgery and dermatology.
