##Three styles of chin micro fat grafting

Chin fat grafting is designed according to the size of the chin and the desired shape.

In the case of a curved and asymmetrical chin, the procedure is aimed at smoothing the curves and achieving symmetry. When the chin is short, there are cases where the vertical length is increased or the chin is projected in the front-lower 45-degree direction.

The design varies depending on the shape the patient wants, and the fat grafting is performed accordingly.

##Problems with implants for chin plastic surgery

For widening the chin line, solid implants such as silicone or Gore-Tex were commonly used. However, they had the burden of needing to be inserted through an incision inside the mouth, and there was also the burden of having a foreign substance placed in the chin. In some cases, side effects such as a foreign body sensation and a feeling of tightness occur.

Inflammation can also occur after implant insertion, and if inflammation develops, the implant must be removed.

However, after implant removal, many people experience aftereffects such as severe contour deformity of the chin.

Therefore, if deformity occurs in the chin after implant removal, correction should be done with fat grafting.

##Effects of the fat graft tunneling technique

♥ Rather than injecting a large amount into one area with the tunneling technique, we perform three-dimensional micro fat grafting using evenly distributed, 100% concentrated fat in multiple layers.

A delicate and careful injection method makes custom design possible.

Fat grafting also includes a process called "tunneling," which allows the grafted fat to make maximum contact with the surrounding abundant blood vessels so that it can continuously receive nutrients.

♥ Tunneling refers to creating a place for the fat to go by using a micro needle just beneath the skin. Because space is made as if drilling a tunnel and then the fat is injected afterward, the fat does not sag in the direction of gravity or become uneven even after all of it has been injected.

##Chin micro fat grafting procedure

1. Fat is harvested from areas where a lot of your own fat has accumulated, such as the lower abdomen, waist, or thighs.

• Since anesthesia is done with local anesthesia (painless sleep anesthesia), there is no pain at all.

• A thin liposuction cannula is used to collect the fat into a syringe.

2. The harvested fat is placed in a centrifuge to remove local anesthetic and serum.

The purpose of centrifugation is to remove impurities contained in the fat and graft a large number of fat cells per unit area to increase the fat take rate.

3. The fat that has been centrifuged undergoes a second concentration process to remove water and oil.

To achieve a fat take rate of at least about 50%, a second purification step after centrifugation is necessary to remove oil and moisture.

The grafted fat must be free of impurities for a higher and more effective take rate.

From experience, one centrifugation step is often not enough to sufficiently concentrate the fat.

By removing oil and moisture in the second step, it is possible to obtain concentrated fat that is nearly 100% purified.

The purified fat is measured into 1cc syringes as needed.

For chin fat grafting, an average of about 5 to 7cc of concentrated fat is grafted.

4. The fat is grafted into the area to be treated after local anesthesia has been applied.

At our clinic, we use a self-developed micro needle (micro grafting cannula).

The micro needle is a special grafting cannula used only at our clinic that enables ultra-precise grafting.

In fat grafting, after the tunneling process is complete, space is secured for the fat to be grafted, and then the grafting is performed.

The principle of fat grafting is to graft evenly across the target area so that the fat does not clump together and to maximize the take rate as much as possible.

To do this, a small amount of concentrated fat must be finely grafted per unit area and spread evenly across multiple areas.

If a large amount of fat is grafted into one area, the fat that does not receive blood supply will be absorbed, reducing the take rate and potentially causing side effects.

If the chin is small or has a depressed area, fat grafting can increase chin volume.

The procedure is simple.
There are almost no problems such as foreign body sensation or inflammation, unlike implants such as silicone or Gore-Tex.
Since the procedure does not require skin incision, there is no concern about scars.
Because it uses autologous tissue, the shape looks natural.
Depending on the shape of the chin line, various delicate shapes can be created.
Since the grafted fat remains permanently as your own tissue, the effect can be maintained for a long time.

##Precautions after chin micro fat grafting

◇ After the procedure, do not press on or impact the area until the fat has settled.

◇ Running exercise has a negative effect on the fat take rate, so running should be avoided for about a month.

◇ Avoid alcohol and smoking for about one week.

◇ Do not open or purse the mouth too widely to reduce fat absorption.

##Number of chin micro fat grafting sessions

Chin fat grafting is mainly performed evenly in the lower part of the chin muscle, within the muscle, and in the fat layer.

In other words, three-dimensional fat grafting is performed.

In the chin area, the fat take rate is relatively high.

It shows a take rate of about 50% to 70%, and it is an area where fat cell take is relatively stable compared to other areas.

There are variables such as skin thickness and tissue flexibility when augmenting the chin with fat, but in general, sufficient chin line contour correction can be achieved as desired.

Most often, one session is enough, and in some cases, two sessions can produce a satisfactory result.

##Second procedure and fat harvesting

After harvesting enough fat from the lower abdomen or thighs for fat grafting, the remaining fat is not discarded but is stored sterilely in a freezer.

The stored fat can be kept for about 10 months, so if you visit within 10 months, you can receive an additional procedure on the desired area without harvesting more fat.

Whether the procedure is done with stored fat or with freshly harvested fat, the results are the same.

##Long-lasting effects of chin micro fat grafting

Some people say that fat grafting has no effect because a lot of it gets absorbed, but this applies when fat grafting is performed at a clinic with somewhat insufficient experience.

If fat grafting is performed correctly according to the proper principles, a satisfactory result can be obtained, and once the grafted fat takes, it is no longer absorbed and remains your own fat tissue for life, making it one of the safest and most effective procedures.

After fat grafting, the volume gradually decreases as the fat is absorbed for anywhere from 3 months to as long as 6 months.

After that, once the fat has fully taken and no further absorption occurs, the remaining fat stays permanently.

The grafted fat does not dissolve and disappear on its own.

If your overall body weight decreases in the future, the grafted area may also be affected, but if your weight remains the same, the volume of the grafted area will change very little.

Therefore, the fat that has taken remains your tissue for life.

That does not mean, of course, that the shape itself will remain the same for life.

As you age, bones change, skin sags, and body weight decreases, so the shape of the grafted area will not remain exactly the same.

However, the effect lasts until aging progresses significantly.

That is why the term semi-permanent is used.

##Side effects of chin micro fat grafting

Fat grafting is one of the procedures with the fewest side effects.

However, due to inexperience on the part of the practitioner, unsatisfactory results or side effects may occasionally occur.

Severe swelling due to excessive fat injection, calcification due to fat necrosis, uneven contour, reduced treatment effect due to excessive fat absorption, and redness due to inflammation may occur, but these are issues related to the practitioner's experience and skill.

If the procedure is performed accurately and according to principles, these problems almost never occur.

Also, for a procedure without side effects, it is best not to receive treatment from an inexperienced non-specialist who does not have board certification in plastic surgery.
