Scar Treatment by Type
Hello, this is Raon Dermatology at Hoehyeon Station.
Scars left on the skin can be a major source of stress for some people. They are not just simple marks, but concerns that can also affect confidence! Scars caused by acne, wounds, surgery, and other factors do not easily disappear over time, which makes them hard to ignore. Did you know that each scar has a different cause and structure? That is why they can be improved if you receive treatment that matches the characteristics of each scar. :)

Scar Treatment by Type
Types of Scars
Scars are fibrotic changes that occur during the healing process after tissue damage, and they are classified into papular, atrophic, and hypertrophic types depending on their shape and depth. Papular scars are red or slightly raised, and in many cases, redness remains because inflammation and capillary dilation continue. Atrophic scars are indented or appear thin, and they commonly occur as acne marks!
On the other hand, hypertrophic scars appear raised and protruding because fibrous tissue proliferates excessively as a wound heals. In other words, although all scars may look like the same kind of “mark,” their tissue responses and healing mechanisms are completely different. That is why treating scars without distinguishing their type can actually worsen the condition, so an accurate diagnosis is needed first.

Why Type-Specific Treatment Is Necessary
The reason treatment directions must differ by scar type is simple. Papular scars still have ongoing inflammation and vascular dilation, so treatments that stabilize color and blood flow are important. Atrophic scars are in a state of collagen loss, and improvement is difficult with methods that only stimulate the surface. Dermal stimulation that promotes collagen production is needed! In contrast, for hypertrophic scars, a simple excision or strong laser approach can cause the fibrous tissue to proliferate further and worsen the scar, so precise heat control is key.
Scar treatment is not simply about “removing” something; it is a process that guides the skin so it can regenerate normally. Because treatment methods vary depending on an individual’s skin thickness, pigment response, and degree of inflammation, an accurate diagnosis by a dermatologist is essential for safe and effective improvement.

Why Type-Specific Treatment Is Necessary
Combination Laser Treatment Methods
At Raon Dermatology, we manage scars with combination treatment that combines various lasers and injectables as needed. As mentioned earlier, multiple procedures are tailored and combined according to the shape and depth of the scar. For example, Stella M22’s ResurFX is a non-ablative fractional laser that induces regenerative effects in the scar area with minimal stimulation. Potenza is a microneedle radiofrequency treatment that promotes collagen regeneration by inducing microthermal injury in the dermal layer!
Because it is difficult for one device to solve all scars, we combine the strengths of each device and provide treatment at different intensities and depths depending on the scar area. This combined approach minimizes skin damage while increasing recovery capacity, helping the skin texture gradually become more even and smooth. In particular, redness, uneven texture, and pigmentation can all be improved during the treatment process, allowing for comprehensive skin restoration. :)

Combination Laser Treatment Methods
Mirajet & Juvelook
Juvelook and Mirajet are important supportive procedures that help regeneration after laser treatment. Juvelook is a collagen booster containing PDLLA and hyaluronic acid. When injected into the dermal layer, it promotes the production of new collagen and gradually fills in indented scars. It has the characteristic of inducing internal skin regeneration while also providing immediate volume, so skin texture naturally improves over time.
Mirajet is a method that delivers active ingredients deep into the dermal layer with fine spray pressure, maximizing regeneration efficiency while minimizing skin irritation. Using Mirajet makes it possible to inject Juvelook accurately into the desired area! When the two procedures are applied together, Juvelook helps restore damaged tissue while Mirajet increases the recovery speed, creating a synergistic effect. Through repeated treatment, the skin structure in the scar area gradually becomes firmer, and you can feel the surface becoming smoother and more refined.

Precautions for Scar Treatment
The most important factors in scar treatment are “consistency” and “professional expertise.” Before treatment, it is essential to consult thoroughly with a specialist to assess the scar’s shape and inflammation status. In some cases, combining lasers, collagen boosters, and regenerative care is necessary to maximize effectiveness. Treatment usually does not end in just one or two sessions, and multiple sessions at regular intervals are typically required.
Also, after the procedure, it is important to wear sunscreen, keep the skin moisturized, and avoid touching or pressing the area with your hands. This is to help prevent pigmentation and recurrence during the skin recovery process! Please remember that scar treatment is not about short-term change, but about the “process” of the skin recovering in a healthy way. :)
