Hello.
We are The Square Dental Clinic,
which looks at both tooth structure and force.

"I heard I need to get my laminates done again..."
When you hear this,
you probably feel upset first.
At first, you were told it would be fine, but as time passes
hearing that you should take another look can be confusing.
But laminate retreatment
is not simply because the first treatment was wrong.
In most cases, it is because
the initial 기준 for judgment was different.
So today, rather than why it needs to be done again,
I’ll explain what gets missed at the beginning
and what situations can arise, focusing on those 기준.
[Removal criteria,
this is where the result changes]
Why does the same spot keep happening?
Laminates Need Retreatment? If You Don’t Identify the Cause, the Same Situation Will Repeat.

There are cases where only one front tooth touches first.
Outwardly, it may not look like there is anything seriously wrong,
but you keep feeling that only that tooth touches first.
So at first,
many people think,
"Isn’t this okay?"
and continue using it as is.
But this part is important.
If you keep using it in this state,
the burden keeps building up in that area.

Laminates
can withstand downward pressure well,
but
when it comes to sideways pushing force,
they are a structure that reacts sensitively.
So if you do not check
which area touches first at the initial stage,
a specific location ends up having to bear the force over and over.
If the force is not distributed evenly and is concentrated on one side,
that area will repeatedly receive irritation.
As this accumulates, it leads to small cracks,
and eventually the spot that touched first collapses.
That is why we first check where contact happens first
and how the force is transmitted.
If this order is not right,
the next choice will lead to the same result.
Will reducing more make it safer?
Laminates Need Retreatment? If You Don’t Identify the Cause, the Same Situation Will Repeat.

It is easy to think that if you reduce more,
it will be more stable.
You may think that if you clean up a bit more from the start,
you can use it for a longer time.
But the actual 기준 are different.
Laminates are stable under maintenance conditions when they are bonded to
the hard layer remaining on the outside of the tooth.
If this layer is reduced,
the bonded condition itself changes.
So the important thing is not how much was reduced,
but how much was left.

This is not just a matter of quantity.
Even if the same amount is adjusted,
the conditions for withstanding the load change depending on
which area was left intact.
In particular, if the area that receives force is also reduced,
that tooth will have a harder time holding up
in the same way as before.
This is exactly the point we check first.
Before adjusting the shape,
we first look at which part should be left intact
so that this tooth can remain stable.
Even if the result looks similar,
if the criteria inside were different,
it becomes a completely different situation over time.
Following this order at the initial stage
is what we pay the most attention to first.
Before doing it again,
there is a standard that must be checked first.
Laminates Need Retreatment? If You Don’t Identify the Cause, the Same Situation Will Repeat.

Laminates
should not be seen as a simple bonding procedure.
What conditions they are bonded under are much more important.
· Bonding condition,
· Tooth shape,
· Where the force comes into contact
Only when these three are aligned together
can the maintenance conditions be stable.
But if you proceed without checking this,
you end up looking at everything from the beginning again.

That is why we do not proceed right away.
We first check the current condition.
✔️ Whether this tooth can withstand the load now,
✔️ Where contact happens first,
✔️ Which direction the force is being applied
We look at these 기준 first, and then decide the direction.
※ A feeling that only one side touches first when you bite down,
※ Discomfort when biting through with the front teeth,
※ A previous experience of it coming off,
※ A habit of clenching your teeth tightly
If even one of these applies,
it is not just a matter of appearance.

There is one more thing you should check here.
When you hear from people who used it well without discomfort,
and then at some point it changed,
that means the conditions for withstanding the load were already changing before then.
Before matching the shape,
our order is to first see how far it can be maintained under the current conditions.
That is how the result changes.
[One thing more important than how much is shaved]
Laminates Need Retreatment? If You Don’t Identify the Cause, the Same Situation Will Repeat.
When a situation arises where it needs to be done again,
it does not necessarily mean the first treatment was wrong.
The 기준 were different.
What we look at first is not the shape.
What conditions this tooth is in now,
where the force is being applied,
and how much should be left intact for stability.
Only when this order is established first
will the next choice also change.
That is exactly why The Square Dental Clinic
looks at the structure first.
