On May 11, 2025, at the Korean Laser Dermatology and Hair Society held in Hall C of COEX Exhibition Center,

Director Choi Yoon-jin of Yonsei Bomvit Dermatology gave a lecture.

The topic of this lecture was “Male Pattern Hair Loss Treatment That Understands the Patient’s Mind,” and it emphasized that treatment should not focus on hair alone, but should also consider the patient’s perspective, emotions, and the pace of their experience.

🙋‍♂️ Why is “mind-reading” care important in hair loss treatment?

Hair loss is a condition that involves not only changes in appearance

but also psychological anxiety and stress.

However, the pace, 기준, and direction of what each patient feels are different.

For example, even with the same hair loss pattern,

some people want early treatment,

while others still feel that things are okay.

If those differences are not understood,

and one-sided explanations or prescriptions are repeated,

the patient’s 마음 can gradually grow farther away.

💬 In this lecture, we covered the following

• How to recognize the ‘pace gap’ between patient and doctor

• Differences in perspective on hair loss and empathy

• Counseling that uses visual materials and a psychological approach

Based on various cases encountered in the actual clinic

and the patients’ responses,

we shared the process of building trust between doctor and patient.
