Before and after travel skin procedures, when and how is the safest and most effective time to get them?
Hello, this is Yonsei Bombit Dermatology.
In summer, many people look into skin care before heading overseas.
“Can I get Botox before leaving?” “I heard I need to rest for a few days after the procedure—is that okay?”
There are often many concerns about the timing of procedures like these.
Today, I’ll guide you through the timing of skin procedures before and after summer travel.

Timing of skin procedures before and after overseas travel
1️⃣ What procedures are good to get before traveling?
✔ Botox, filler
These are light procedures, so they are not very burdensome even before travel.
However, bruising or swelling may occur at the treatment area, so it is recommended to have the procedure at least 5 to 7 days before departure.
✔ Juvelook, Rejuran Healer
Collagen-stimulating skin boosters are more about gradual effects than immediate changes,
so getting them about 2 weeks before travel can help your skin condition improve by the time you are traveling.
✔ Laser toning, nano/pico laser
Lasers for pigment and tone improvement require strict UV protection, so
procedures right before travel are not recommended because the skin may become irritated.
Extra caution is especially needed in summer.
2️⃣ Is it okay to get a procedure right after traveling?
✔ No procedures immediately after UV exposure
Because the skin has become sensitive due to long flights and sun exposure,
it is safer to wait at least 3 to 5 days after returning home before laser or injection procedures.
✔ Recommended post-travel skin recovery care
-
Soothing lasers (Crycell, regenerative laser, etc.)
-
Hydration and recovery care (soothing care, Double Tite + Rejuran Healer, etc.)
-
Effective for calming dry and red skin.
3️⃣ How should you care for your skin during travel?
✔ Sunscreen with SPF 50 or higher is essential
Reapply every 2 to 3 hours, and if you sweat, a waterproof formula is recommended
✔ Use hydrating ampoules and sheet masks
Useful for easing the dryness inside airplanes and the heat after outdoor activities
✔ Avoid excessive exfoliation
Exfoliating irritated skin can lead to even bigger skin troubles
✨ In summary
| Procedure | Recommended timing | Precautions |
|---|
| Botox·filler | 5 to 7 days before departure | Consider swelling and bruising |
| Juvelook·Rejuran | 2 weeks before departure | Gradual effects |
| Laser toning | 5 days after returning home | Be careful with UV exposure |
| Skin soothing care | Right after returning home | For reducing irritation |
The timing of skin procedures affects both effectiveness and safety.
