Hello. This is VN Plastic Surgery :)
Many people in Korea have small nostrils and cartilage,
and thick skin, which often results in a bulbous nose with large nostrils.
A bulbous nose that looks thick and blunt was once seen as
a “nose that brings good fortune,” but
these days the high, straight nose bridge often seen in Westerners looks much more refined,
so more and more people are visiting clinics to raise a low, wide nose bridge and
reduce a blunt nose tip.
So today, among the many reasons for nose surgery,
let’s talk about < nostril reduction surgery >.
What is nostril reduction?

A wide and thick nose wing,
when the tip looks spread out because it is blunt and has a lot of tissue,
or when the nostrils are large or asymmetrical,
reduction surgery is needed.
At this time, depending on the surgical method,
it is divided into a non-incision method, an internal incision method, or an external incision method.
If the tissue at the nose tip is thick,
a process of removing it to make it thinner is necessary,
and if the nose wings are spread out, the skin is removed and stitched according to
the thickness of the nose skin and the degree of spreading, then the nose wings are brought together.

Internal-incision nostril reduction surgery
This method reduces the width of the nostril base and the nose wings,
and is suitable when both the nose wings and the nostril base are large and wide.
By making an incision on the inside of the nostril and then stitching it,
the overall size is reduced.

Non-incision nostril reduction surgery
This is performed when the nose wing skin tissue is thin and only the nose wings are spread out,
and the size of the nose wings can be corrected by simply tying both nostrils together using a special thread.

External-incision nostril reduction surgery
This surgery reduces the bulge on the outer part of the nostril,
and is suitable when the nose wings are wider than the nostril base.
Through an incision near the base of the nose, the bulging part of the nose wings is reduced.

Ideal nose wing proportions
If you have a slim nose bridge but wide nostrils,
it can make the nose look relatively low and blunt.
That is why nostril reduction surgery is often performed together with rhinoplasty,
but it is also a procedure many people seek on its own.
What matters here is
the harmony between your original nose bridge and your face!
The most ideal nose wing proportion is about 1/5 of the face’s horizontal width when viewed from the front.
In particular, it looks natural when it is similar to the width between the eyebrows.
Also, when viewed from below, the nose shape looks prettier and more elevated when it is close to an equilateral triangle,
and the ideal ratio between the nose tip’s width and the nostril height is 1:2.
Who is nostril reduction surgery good for?

01 When the nose looks large because the nose wings are wide
02 When the nose wings do not harmonize with the face
03 When the nose looks low because the nose wings are spread out
04 When the nose wings droop and make the nose look long or like an arrow nose
05 When you want to improve the nose wings so they harmonize with the face

So far, we have looked into nostril reduction surgery!
Above all, the important thing is to preserve your individuality and
make your decision after enough consultation with an experienced doctor who respects your opinions.
Thank you :)

After surgery, swelling and recovery time may vary depending on the individual,
and caution is needed regarding side effects such as bleeding, inflammation, and asymmetry.
