The nose, located at the center of the face,
plays the most important role in determining a person’s impression.
Since not everyone is born with the same nose structure,
the types can also be divided into several categories.
Aren’t you curious about what type of nose you have?
Today, we’ll look at the different types of rhinoplasty and
learn about rhinoplasty methods by type.

What type of nose do I have?
There are many types of noses, but if we divide them into representative categories,
they can be grouped as a hump nose, long nose, crooked nose, and short nose.
Check the characteristics of each one and see which type applies to you!
Hump nose > A type with an uneven nasal bridge and drooping tip cartilage
Long nose > A type with developed septal cartilage that causes the tip to droop downward
Crooked nose > A type where the nose is bent to one side
Short nose > A type that appears lifted enough that the nostrils are visible from the front

How is hump nose surgery performed?
A hump nose refers to a nose where the middle of the nasal bridge protrudes and the tip appears drooped.
If the protrusion is severe, it can create a sharp impression,
so VN performs surgery by smoothing the nasal line around the protruding area.
The procedure is done either by filing down or performing osteotomy on the hump area and then inserting an implant into the bridge or tip,
or by inserting autologous tissue into the tip, just above the tip, and the glabella.

How is long nose surgery performed?
In the case of a long nose, if the nose length is excessively long,
it can make the midface appear longer or give an aged appearance,
so the goal is to make it look as short as possible from the front.
At VN, the surgery is performed using the following methods:
Resect the tip cartilage and suture it upward > place support on the columella using autologous cartilage and move the nasal cartilage upward before fixation > resect the depressor septi nasi muscle > insert silicone or autologous tissue (may vary depending on the case)

How is crooked nose surgery performed?
A crooked nose is, as the name suggests, a nose that appears bent when viewed from the front.
Because it can make the entire face look asymmetrical,
the goal is to correct it into a straight line.
At VN, the surgery is performed in the following ways according to two representative cases.
- When the nasal bone is crooked
Separate the nasal bones through medial osteotomy and lateral osteotomy, then correct them properly > bring the cartilage inward
- When the septal cartilage is crooked
Correct the bent part of the septal cartilage > add cartilage to correct it properly

How is short nose surgery performed?
A short nose can be caused by congenital or acquired factors,
and refers to a nose with an overall short length.
If the nose is short, the face may appear wider and the overall proportions may seem unbalanced,
so VN performs surgery using the following methods.
- Cartilage grafting
Perform septal extension > lower the nasal tip
- Cartilage reshaping + cartilage grafting + augmentation rhinoplasty
Insert appropriate autologous tissue > correct both the nasal bridge and the nasal tip
