It is autumn.
Nail and toenail tumors appear in many different forms.
Being diagnosed with a tumor is unfamiliar enough,
but treatment also mostly occurs at the nail root,
so there is a high possibility that it may lead to root damage and nail deformity,
which means surgery must be approached carefully.
Today, I will list several types of tumors
and study how they can be diagnosed.
They are divided into those located above the nail and those located under the nail.
If you send your questions about fingernails or toenails with photos and text to the clinic inquiry phone (010-9682-1501),
I will answer them.
If you would like to visit, make a reservation at Tomorrow Clinic (02-3431-1500) and come to the 4th floor of City Pharmacy, 100 meters ahead from Exit 4 of Jamsilsaenae Station on Subway Line 2.
*Closed every Thursday. Open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:20 p.m.

It is mainly located above the nail, and since the basis of the tumor originates from the nail root,
the nail root should be damaged as little as possible to avoid nail deformity.

This is a case in which the toenail was compressed and deformed due to the tumor.

In this case, the tumor root extends to the joint.
Toenail deformity is unavoidable,
but it must be minimized through surgery.

This is a before photo.
It is a huge tumor under the toenail
that originates from the toe bone.

This is an after photo.
The toenail has grown back straight after surgery.

There was a hangnail under the nail that had started 5 years ago, so the patient would periodically go to a clinic to have it cut off, and because it kept recurring, they came to our clinic.
After local anesthesia, it was removed in a long vertical incision, and the biopsy showed it was squamous cell carcinoma.

It had been mistaken for athlete’s foot for 2 years, so athlete’s foot treatment was tried, but there was no improvement. After being cut with a laser, the patient came to our clinic. After partial excision treatment under local anesthesia, the biopsy at our clinic
showed
keratoacanthoma, a type of cancer.

This is a case of a huge tumor beside the toenail, where only simple treatment had been done at various clinics before coming to our clinic.
During surgery, nail deformity may occur and blood circulation problems may arise after surgery,
but this is a case that was successfully completed.

This is the appearance about 2 months after surgery.
It was a successful result, with the toenail growing straight without deformity.
Autumn has arrived quickly and is now ripening.
Like the Eiffel Tower in Paris,
said to have been built 120 years ago,
I hope you have an autumn where you soar high and higher.
