Toenail Fungus and Ingrown Toenails 70 (Colosseum)

It is late autumn. It is a nice season.

Today, I’m studying toenail fungus and ingrown toenails again.

Toenail fungus treatment is already widespread, so it is similar, but we finish within the nation’s shortest period, 4 months.

Ingrown toenails seem to have already become common as a product, not a medical device, in places other than hospitals.

What is concerning is that complications have a high risk of occurring, and the cost-effectiveness is much more expensive than in hospitals.

Because of the nature of blogs, the revisit rate is almost 1%, so there are some repeated photos.

There is no “like” click due to the nature of hospital blogs,

and it has been more than 25 years since I opened the first nail specialty hospital in Korea in 1995.

I have continued on one path. I treat only fingernails and toenails.

Let’s look at ingrown toenails and fungus.

Toenail fungus is treated with a pinpoint laser about 3–5 times, once every 2 months.

I am proud of having the shortest treatment period in Korea.

Ingrown toenails that dig in are treated with a non-surgical method, without surgery,

and are simply treated with a corrective device that straightens them at the hospital.

Surgical treatment is also a good treatment method, and it is a treatment that minimizes recurrence permanently.

This is a severely curled-in, badly affected toenail. The fungus is also severe.

Usually, these severe types that curl in like this are called pincer nails.

Fungus or excess weight can cause this kind of pincer nail.

However, you can simply wear the corrective device for about 2 weeks

and continue all your daily life as usual.

After 2 weeks, it may come off on its own, or it can be easily removed with a light tap.

For this type, surgical treatment is also a very beneficial method.

It can be treated this simply.

The government has approved three types as medical devices, namely (KD, Stirling, and Butoring), so

they can only be used in hospitals. Products made as other consumer goods and used outside hospitals

may be unhygienic, and if complications occur, it can be difficult, so

I strongly recommend receiving treatment at a hospital.

Hospital treatment is cost-effective.

However, this corrective device treatment is convenient and good, but there are cases where it recurs.

A toenail that digs in from the root structure and shape like this is called a pincer nail.

Corrective-device treatment is possible, but this type has a high chance of recurrence.

For this type, surgical treatment is more effective.

After local anesthesia, both sides are cut by about 1 mm and the root is removed as well,

then you can have the area disinfected for about 10 days at a nearby clinic.

Surgical treatment has the advantage of being nearly recurrence-free and permanent.

Even if it is not a pincer nail that curves overall from the root, if inflammation is widespread like this,

surgical treatment is more effective than corrective-device treatment.

This is a severe type of ingrown toenail. Structurally, it curls inward, and a tunnel forms in the middle, causing keratin to accumulate. This is a severe type.

In this case, it is a difficult toenail, and it can only be treated with surgery.

The width on both sides must be reduced, and the keratin in the middle must also be removed.

This is a good case for surgical treatment.

This is called curvature deformity (club-shaped deformity).

When weight-bearing is applied to the toenail and bruising under the nail or nail loss repeats,

permanent deformity occurs like this.

It is often mistaken for fungus, and complete recovery is difficult, but

if corrected surgically, partial recovery is possible.

So the toenail grows only halfway, and after that its shape becomes deformed.

Thorough care after surgery is important.

In this case, fungus treatment has no response at all.

Many people undergo fungus treatment for years,

but this is a toenail that can only be treated with surgery.

Fungus is treated with a laser.

However, it is cured in 4 months with a pinpoint laser, once a month, for a total of 4 months.

The pinpoint laser is stronger than the Luniula laser.

Laser alone is not enough, and by adding polishing therapy,

we achieve the shortest treatment period in Korea: 4 months.

Without polishing therapy, it would take about a year.

then sterilizes it at a high temperature of 80 degrees.

It is the most powerful treatment method.
