Hello :)
Jamsil Orthodontic Clinic
Jamsil Adult Orthodontics
This is UPenn Barun Dental Clinic.
How have you all been?
Today, we would like to introduce a case of a patient who was concerned about a gap between the front teeth due to the loss of an upper front tooth^^

Orthodontic treatment period: 22/11~24/11

Before starting orthodontic treatment, we took intraoral photos and X-rays.
The patient’s dental condition was not only a gap between the front teeth, but the front teeth were also touching each other, which was causing tooth wear and increasing forces between the teeth, so gingival recession was also progressing.
For proper occlusion, orthodontic treatment was urgently needed.
In addition, when we checked the X-rays,
there were cavities in several areas.

If you look at the contact points between the teeth (red spots),
there were areas where the teeth had chipped away in places that were receiving a lot of force on the front teeth. T^T

Orthodontic treatment period: 22/11~24/11
Although the cavity area was large,
Director Kim Seung-woo, who pursues the most conservative treatment possible,
provided orthodontic treatment together with resin treatment.
Being able to receive cavity treatment and orthodontic treatment from the same doctor
is one of the many advantages of UPenn Barun Dental Clinic :)

The treatment plan for the patient, whose gap between the front teeth was quite large due to the missing tooth,
was to align the teeth through orthodontic treatment and then
make an implant or bridge at the site of the missing tooth.

At UPenn Barun Dental Clinic,
we used a Clippy-C appliance to pull the molars backward with orthodontic force without extracting teeth,
and created space for the front teeth at the site of the missing tooth.

Orthodontic treatment period: 22/11~24/11
After completion of orthodontic treatment,
when we took a CT scan,
there was not enough remaining bone at the site that had been a missing tooth for quite a long time to place an implant,
so we decided to proceed with bridge treatment :)

At UPenn Barun Dental Clinic, where prosthetics, implants, cavity treatment, and orthodontics are possible from the same doctor,
here is why you should start orthodontic treatment!!
Did you notice?
When the upper and lower teeth have normal occlusion,
they gain proper function for chewing and speaking.
If normal occlusion is not achieved,
the function of the teeth is reduced accordingly, but after orthodontic treatment,
the contact areas between the teeth were also corrected and improved into proper occlusion.

Orthodontic treatment period: 22/11~24/11
Orthodontic treatment is a procedure to improve disharmony in the dental arch both functionally and aesthetically,
and the health and alignment of the teeth have a major impact on outward appearance.
If you look at the facial photos after orthodontic treatment,
compared with before treatment,
the prominent gap between the front teeth was improved and the alignment became neat,
showing a refined and pretty smile. ^^
From orthodontic treatment to post-treatment care such as cavity treatment and implants,
visit UPenn Barun Dental Clinic, where you can receive care from the same doctor,
and regain your confident smile! ♥
