Hello, this is Park Jeong-gi, the chief director of Remember Dental Clinic in Sindaebang.
At our Sindaebang Dental Clinic, we provide a truly wide range of treatments, and many people also visit us for teeth whitening.
What Is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening means
'brightening discolored teeth
back to their original shade,
or making them whiter than they are now.'
There are many reasons why tooth color changes, including staining and discoloration caused by food or smoking, discoloration caused by medication or genetics, pulp necrosis caused by trauma or impact, and enamel wear due to aging.
In general, teeth whitening is performed by applying a gel-type agent containing certain ingredients to the tooth surface.
Therefore, it can make yellow teeth brighter and whiter without permanent damage, making it safe and effective.
The answer lies in the hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) ingredient contained in the agent.
Hydrogen peroxide itself is a reactive oxygen species, and when it breaks down under certain conditions, it produces even stronger reactive oxygen species.
These reactive oxygen species have very strong oxidizing power and burn away organic substances such as pigments.
In other words, it is a powerful bleaching agent.
Teeth whitening uses the same principle.
It uses the oxidizing power of hydrogen peroxide to oxidize and remove organic substances in stained and discolored areas.
The outermost layer of the tooth, enamel, contains less than 4% organic matter, while dentin, located beneath it, contains about 20% organic matter.
Therefore, for the teeth to become brighter and whiter properly, hydrogen peroxide must penetrate through the enamel and reach the dentin.
Accordingly, a treatment containing hydrogen peroxide at a certain concentration must be kept on the tooth surface long enough to achieve the desired effect.
Teeth Whitening Case
Today at Sindaebang Dental Clinic, I will also show you a patient case of teeth whitening treatment.
I feel like my teeth are too yellow.
A patient who was worried about the yellow color of their teeth visited Sindaebang Dental Clinic.
They said their teeth seemed especially yellow, so we checked objectively.

When compared with a shade guide, the color measured around 'A3.5.'
At this level, it can be considered a fairly typical tooth color for Koreans.
In response to the patient’s request to make them as bright as possible, we recommended professional whitening and started the same day.

Just by whitening alone, the color became noticeably brighter.
If you want to permanently change the color of your teeth, you would need veneers or crowns, which require filing down the teeth.
Professional teeth whitening is an effective way to create a white and bright smile without damage.
At Sindaebang Dental Clinic, we operate a variety of whitening programs.
The most suitable program differs for each patient, but if you want reliable results that fit your schedule, such as for a wedding or a blind date, we strongly recommend professional whitening.
Also, because this program uses a high concentration of medication, it may cause gum sensitivity, so it is a procedure that must be performed by experienced medical professionals.
