Hello,
I’m Director Park Jeong-gi from Seoul Remember, a dental clinic near Bongcheon Station.
You all know that the front teeth are an important part of determining our first impression, right?
Because they are the teeth that are seen first when speaking or smiling,
they are very important not only functionally
but also aesthetically.
However, anterior prosthetics are more prone to fracture or damage
than other teeth.
That is why, if a problem occurs,
what matters most is not simply repairing the broken area,
but providing comprehensive treatment
that takes the overall alignment and aesthetics into account.
At the Bongcheon Station dental clinic,
we consider it best to establish a specific plan
based on the area where the problem has occurred.
Today, I’ll look at a related case
and share several medical insights.
Initial Examination

2025.04.23
Looking inside the mouth,
the existing crown on tooth 11, that is, the upper right central incisor,
was fractured.
In addition, the overall alignment of the teeth
had a slightly protruded appearance,
which was aesthetically disappointing.
With the crown so badly broken,
the patient likely covered their mouth when speaking or smiling,
and their confidence must have been greatly reduced.
Reasons Anterior Prosthetics Break
Many patients come to the Bongcheon Station dental clinic
and ask why anterior prosthetics break,
so I’ll summarize a few reasons below.
- Functional overload
The front teeth play a role in cutting food,
and this is often seen in people who frequently eat hard foods
or have habits such as biting things hard,
using chopsticks too forcefully,
or biting their nails.
- Material limitations
Depending on the material of the existing crown,
it may have been relatively weak,
making it vulnerable to impact.
- Malocclusion
If the teeth are not well aligned,
excessive force concentrates on specific areas,
increasing the risk of fracture.
- Passage of time
Older prosthetics naturally lose strength
over time and their fit with the gums worsens,
increasing the possibility of fracture.
Treatment Plan
Today at the Bongcheon Station dental clinic,
rather than treating only the broken tooth 11,
we determined that restoring the entire 6 anterior teeth (13 to 23)
with laminate veneers would lead to better results.
Laminate veneers require only minimal reduction of the front surface of the tooth,
so a large amount of healthy tooth structure can be preserved,
and the amount of reduction is significantly less than with crowns.
They can also reproduce translucency and color tones
that are nearly indistinguishable from natural teeth. ^^
Their excellent light transmission creates a more natural appearance.
Likewise, even over time,
discoloration is minimal.
Lastly, even without orthodontic treatment,
they can correct crooked teeth or spaces,
improving the overall alignment of the teeth.
At the Bongcheon Station dental clinic,
if consultation with the patient is sufficient,
we may lightly refine the teeth
and use temporary prosthetics.
We also do not forget the careful consideration of proceeding with final bonding only after the patient is fully satisfied.
Results

2025.04.12
After the 6-unit laminate veneer treatment,
not only was the broken and unattractive problem in the anterior teeth resolved,
but the overall alignment was improved,
resulting in a much more natural and beautiful smile.
The previously protruding-looking teeth were straightened,
and the irregular shape was also improved.
When you compare the before-and-after photos,
the difference is clearly visible, right?

2025.04.12 ~ 2025.04.23
As explained today at the Bongcheon Station dental clinic,
if you are worried about problems related to your front teeth,
please remember that making a treatment plan
that considers the harmony of the entire mouth,
rather than just individual teeth,
is a way to get one step closer
to a satisfying result.
Thank you for reading.
