Comparing How Long Thread Lifting Lasts by Type,
How to Choose Long-Lasting Threads

“Thread lifting all looks similar,
which thread lasts the longest?”
These days, thread lifting has become so mainstream that when people think of “lifting,” thread lifting comes to mind right away.
However, in reality, the maintenance period and results vary completely depending on the type of thread used.
Even for the same procedure, the durability and natural-looking result can differ entirely depending on which thread is used and how that thread is designed.
In today’s post, I’ll explain in a simple and accurate way the differences in thread lifting types and how long they last, as well as how to choose a long-lasting thread.
If you read this post, you’ll be able to set your own standards for thread lifting before coming to the clinic. ^^

Thread Lifting Types
How does thread lifting work?

Thread lifting is a procedure in which dissolvable medical threads are inserted into the deep layers of the skin.
These threads do more than simply “pull the skin up” physically.
They also provide micro-stimulation inside the skin, encouraging new collagen production.
In simple terms, it’s like setting up a collagen factory inside the skin.
That’s why there is an immediate lifting effect after the procedure, and over time the skin’s elasticity improves and the texture becomes smoother.
In general, the threads dissolve slowly over 6 months to 1 year,
but thanks to the collagen formed during that period, the effects last longer.
Maintenance period and features by thread lifting type

There are many types of threads used for thread lifting,
but the four most commonly used are Mono threads, Jamber threads, Cog threads, and Silhouette Soft.

- Mono thread (MONO)
A smooth single thread that stimulates the dermis inside the skin and encourages collagen production.
Its main effects are improving skin texture and reducing fine lines rather than providing immediate lifting.
The maintenance period is about 6 months, and it is suitable for people in their 30s to 40s who are in the early stages of skin sagging.

- Jamber thread (JAMBER)
A more advanced version of the mono thread, with the thread twisted into a spiral (coil) shape.
It has a “spring effect” that adds elasticity every time the skin moves, leaving the face feeling firmer after the procedure.
The effect lasts about 6 months to 1 year.

- Cog thread (COG)
A thread with barbed protrusions that directly grips the skin and lifts sagging jawlines and nasolabial folds.
It has a strong immediate lifting effect, and when performed by an experienced medical professional, it can refine the face naturally without making it look stiff.
The maintenance period is about 9 months to 1 year, making it one of the most commonly used threads.

- Silhouette Soft
A premium PLLA thread with cone-shaped fixation devices attached inside the thread.
These cones firmly hold the tissue and induce lifting and collagen regeneration at the same time.
It is suitable for people with thin skin or those who want a natural result, and the maintenance period is relatively long, lasting more than 1 year.
Ultimately, if you want long-lasting thread lifting, the key is to choose a thread that matches the degree of sagging and the level of lifting you want.

Care tips for longer-lasting thread lifting

After the procedure, maintenance habits determine how long the effects last.
No matter how good the thread is, if aftercare is poor, the effect will not last long.
Immediately after the procedure, there may be swelling or tightness, but in most cases this subsides within 2 to 3 days.
During this period, it is important to avoid massage and not rub the face hard.

Also, until the thread settles into place inside the skin,
it is better to avoid hard foods and excessive facial movements.
After that, maintaining moisture and protecting the skin from UV rays are the key points for extending the maintenance period.
If the skin becomes dry or is frequently exposed to sunlight, collagen can be damaged and the lifting effect will fade more quickly.
About 2 weeks after the procedure, the thread becomes stably settled inside the skin, and a natural contour is completed.
The maintenance period of each thread lifting type varies depending on the material of the thread, its structure, the layer it is inserted into, and the design by the medical professional.
Even with the same thread, what matters most is whether it was designed to fit the facial structure and inserted into the correct layer.
This is the biggest factor in determining how long thread lifting lasts.
Therefore, the choice of thread and design that suit you should always be decided after consultation with a medical professional.
If the sagging lines in the mirror are bothering you,
instead of simply thinking, “I need lifting,”
think about “Which thread lifting will last the longest on my face?”
