When people usually think of a hump nose, they picture a nose with a high and large bridge.

However, there are also many cases where the nose has a hump, but the overall nose is small and the bridge is low.

In such cases, it is called a low hump nose, and after removing the hump, surgery is performed by inserting a silicone implant to raise the bridge.

I will explain in detail a case of improvement for a low hump nose, along with photos of an actual patient and the surgical method.

[Before surgery]

The patient, a woman in her 20s, said that her low nose and protruding hump were a complex for her, and she visited Apgujeong Seoul Plastic Surgery because she wanted to improve only her nose as smoothly and naturally as possible without losing her own image.

If you look closely at the nose, the hump is immediately noticeable, but you can also see that the area from the glabella to the tip of the nose slopes downward and becomes lower.

The hump nose surgery method removes the hump made of cartilage and bone using a precise scalpel and osteotome.

When the hump on the nasal bridge is trimmed, the bridge becomes lower, so a silicone implant is inserted into the bridge to create the desired height.

Therefore, this method is used for low hump nose cases.

If the hump is removed too aggressively, the risk of inflammation in the area where the implant is inserted may increase, so the hump is slightly trimmed and silicone is used to make the bridge look smoother.

Hump nose surgery without implants

For cases with a high bridge, surgery can also be performed without implants. Even without inserting silicone into the bridge, it is possible to create a natural nose shape with a moderate height.

The relatively drooping existing nasal tip cartilage is repositioned to a location where it can connect naturally with the bridge line, and then septal cartilage is harvested and placed on top of the tip cartilage to raise it.

Osteotomy

Nasal bone osteotomy is a method of making a fracture line in the nasal bone so that it can be moved, and then bringing it inward toward the center.

Because the nasal bones can be moved freely after the osteotomy, it can correct a crooked bridge or a broad bridge in people whose nasal bridge is wide.

It can also adjust the width of the nasal bridge.

In addition, it can improve the bridge line to look more three-dimensional and defined.

1 month after surgery

This is a photo of the patient's nose one month after surgery.

The slightly protruding hump on the bridge was trimmed to make it smooth, and silicone was placed thinly to naturally raise the bridge.

The drooping nasal tip was raised by harvesting the patient's septal cartilage,

with consideration so that it could connect naturally with the bridge line. After surgery, you can see that the bridge area became smoother and the nose changed into a more cleanly extended shape.
