Hello, this is Apgujeong Seoul Plastic Surgery.
I’m Director Choi Jong-hyuk.
As the vacation period begins, many students have been visiting Apgujeong Seoul Plastic Surgery with concerns about cosmetic surgery.

Today, for elementary, middle, and high school student minors who are considering cosmetic surgery, we will look at whether cosmetic procedures such as eye surgery and nose surgery are appropriate, and if so, when they can be done.
📍 Why minors should think carefully about cosmetic surgery

Students who are currently considering cosmetic surgery such as eye surgery or nose surgery are recommended to think about these three things before deciding on surgery.

- Cosmetic surgery is not essential.
In the case of cosmetic surgery, it is not something that must absolutely be done, or something that must be done at a young age, so it is better to consider it carefully before proceeding with surgery.

- It is not too late to decide after becoming an adult.
For elementary, middle, and high school student minors, decision-making ability may not be sufficiently developed compared to adults.
Because of this, there is a greater chance of making an impulsive decision about surgery due to temporary stress.
Whether ‘eye surgery or nose surgery will improve my life’ is something that can be judged more accurately after becoming an adult, so it is not too late to consider cosmetic surgery after reaching adulthood.

- Surgery results are better after growth is complete.
The most important reason minors should think carefully about cosmetic surgery is that bone growth is not yet complete during the growth period.
In particular, the nose continues to undergo subtle changes until the later stages of growth, so if minor patients undergo surgery too early, there is a possibility that they may not get the results they expected.
📍 When can minors have eye surgery?

Unlike nose surgery, eye surgery is possible for elementary, middle, and high school student minors.
Since there are cases in which even 5- to 6-year-old children who experience eye pain, a foreign-body sensation, redness, skin irritation around the eyes, and decreased vision due to congenital entropion, where the eyelashes rub against the eyes, undergo double-eyelid surgery to correct it,
minors who are not too young can also have double-eyelid surgery.
📍 When can minors have nose surgery?

For surgery involving bones and the skeletal structure,
such as nose surgery or contour surgery,
we recommend proceeding only after growth is complete, typically after the second or third year of high school.

If you want surgery at an earlier age,
it is best to first confirm through a growth plate test whether growth has ended,
and then make a decision about surgery
through consultation with the director.

Since opening in 2000,
Apgujeong Seoul Plastic Surgery has pursued safe beauty as a hospital with no accidents for 25 years.
