Ulthera and Oligio Together
Will getting them together be more effective?
“Lately, a lot of people are getting Ulthera and Oligio together...
If you do them together, what’s better about it?”
These days, many people ask about combination procedures.
In particular, we often get questions about procedures combined with Ulthera.
A combination is not actually possible with just any lifting treatment.
It is only possible when the depth and method of action within the skin are completely different.
Ulthera and Oligio have different lifting methods, so they can be combined. Rather than competing with each other, they actually play a complementary role.
You may be wondering how the two liftings complement each other, and what effects you can expect as a result.
In today’s post, I’ll explain each one step by step.

- What are the lifting principles of Ulthera and Oligio?
To talk about the synergy of the two lifting treatments, we need to start with how they differ.
Ulthera (HIFU)

Ulthera focuses high-intensity ultrasound energy deep into the SMAS layer of the skin.
The SMAS layer is like an internal framework that surrounds the muscles.
By creating thermal coagulation points there, the tissue contracts slightly, which creates firmness.
Simply put, it is a treatment that “supports the collapsed pillars of the skin.”
Oligio (Monopolar RF)

Oligio delivers radiofrequency energy evenly into the dermis layer of the skin.
At this point, the collagen in the skin is heated, and the collagen structure repeatedly relaxes for a moment and then tightens again.
As a result, it creates an immediate feeling of plumpness and elasticity.
In addition, the stimulated cells induce collagen regeneration, which can improve skin elasticity over time.
In other words, Oligio can be seen as playing the role of “ironing out wrinkled skin.”
In the end, Ulthera works on inner firmness and Oligio works on outer firmness, so getting both treatments together can create a more three-dimensional lift across the entire face.
- What do studies show about the effects of Ulthera and Oligio?
A paper published in 2024 studied combination treatment with HIFU (the Ulthera type) and Monopolar RF (the Oligio type).

The study was conducted on a total of 56 Asian skin types.
The treatment areas were the face, jawline, and neck, and the results were evaluated using GAIS (Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale) based on before-and-after photos.
A clinical improvement was observed in 96.4% of patients, and 26.8% were rated as “very much improved.”

With HIFU, structural sagging in the skin can be improved,
and with RF, skin texture and elasticity can be improved.
Because of these effects, the study results were also considered positive.
- Won’t getting Ulthera and Oligio together put too much strain on the skin?
Some people worry that getting both treatments together might be too much for the skin.
According to the study results, there was temporary erythema after the procedure, but it naturally recovered within 1 to 2 days, and there were no serious side effects such as burns, swelling, or nerve damage in any patient.

In other words, it means that the two treatments can be performed together without serious side effects.
Also, many people worry that it will hurt more if they get them together.
Most of the participants in the study said the pain was around 5 points on average (out of 10).
Today, we looked at whether getting Ulthera and Oligio together is more effective based on clinical research results.
The two lifting treatments have different mechanisms of action and act on different layers, so when combined, they complement each other.
Combination treatment is possible depending on the lifting principle, and if the treatments needed are combined based on skin condition, the results can be even better.
If a single treatment felt insufficient, it may help to consult at a place that carefully examines your skin condition and discuss combination treatments.
