InMode vs. Shurink: What’s the Difference in Effect, and What If You Get Both?

One of the things I feel most sorry about during consultations is when people ask me to compare lifting treatments with each other.

Even though there are separate procedures that suit different purposes, treatment areas, and skin conditions,

‘Someone I know got it and saw amazing results.’

‘A celebrity had it done and their face was glowing.’

When people hear stories like that, it’s understandable that they become tempted to try it.

So today, I’m bringing you an explanation of InMode and Shurink, which differ greatly in purpose and key effects.

I’ll compare the two clearly in terms of mechanism and results, and also explain in detail whether it makes sense to get both together.

Comparing the principles and effects of InMode and Shurink

Some people think InMode and Shurink are just similar types of lifting treatments, but they are quite different.

First, looking at InMode, it uses radiofrequency energy.

In particular, the FX mode gently suctions the skin with vacuum pressure first, then delivers high-output voltage energy to the fat layer in an instant, intensively destroying fat cells.

It is effective for areas with a lot of fat, such as the double chin or cheeks.

The FORMA mode improves skin elasticity by raising the temperature of the dermis to around 43°C and promoting collagen and elastin regeneration through heat.

Simply put, FX is for ‘reducing fat,’ while FORMA is for ‘improving firmness.’

Shurink Universe

On the other hand, Shurink is a treatment that uses ultrasound energy.

It focuses ultrasound on the SMAS layer, also called the fascia layer, to make it tight again.

As we age, the membrane surrounding the muscles loosens and causes sagging, and this treatment creates thermal coagulation points there with strong ultrasound to regenerate collagen fibers and produce a natural lifting effect.

Because Shurink lifts the fascia layer itself and helps define the overall facial contour, it is strong in improving overall sagging and contour lines.

Comparing when results appear

I also get a lot of questions about when results from InMode and Shurink can be expected. There is a slight difference here as well.

With InMode, although it varies from person to person, results are usually noticeable after 2 to 4 weeks.

This is because, in FX mode, time is needed for the destroyed fat cells to be eliminated from the body.

Lifting through FORMA mode also takes about 3 to 4 weeks because the collagen regeneration process needs time.

Shurink also needs about 3 to 4 weeks before results appear because the thermal coagulation points must heal and collagen must be produced.

The effect continues to gradually increase for up to 1 month and as long as 3 months.

What if you get both?

Then you may also be wondering whether these two very different treatments can be done together.

When properly combined, they can produce a synergistic effect.

For example, let’s consider a case where the jawline is uneven and not well defined, there are nasolabial folds, and there is also a double chin and full cheeks.

In that case, Shurink can be used to refine the overall line and wrinkles, while InMode can be used to focus on areas with more fat.

In practice, it is common to tighten the whole face with Shurink and separately manage the double chin or cheeks with InMode.

However, getting both is not always the right answer.

If there is not much fat in the face and the skin is thin, and only overall sagging needs to be managed, Shurink alone may be enough.

Conversely, if elasticity is fairly good but the concern is only the double chin or the deep buccal area, then focusing on InMode may be better.
