Yeongdeungpo Shurink Principle and Meaning
You Need to Understand It Properly Before Getting It

'My skin is really sagging, so how is Shurink?
I looked into it a bit,
and I heard it works well because it pulls from deep inside.'
While looking into Shurink, you may have often heard that it works deep within the skin.
However, many people do not really know exactly where it works or what the principle is.
So today, we will explain step by step how Yeongdeungpo Shurink works, how deep into our skin it reaches, and what kind of effects it gives.
If you first understand the skin structure, you may feel more clearly whether it is a good fit for you.

The principle of Shurink and the skin layers it affects
Shurink is a lifting treatment that uses HIFU, or High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound technology.
It works by concentrating ultrasound energy at a single point and focusing it at a specific depth within the skin. It acts on the deep fascial layer of the skin (the SMAS layer).

The ultrasound energy passes through multiple skin layers and creates a thermal coagulation point of about 65–70 degrees only when it reaches the target depth.
This heat temporarily contracts the skin tissue, and as the damaged area recovers, new collagen is produced, restoring skin elasticity.
To briefly explain how deep the fascial layer is located, our skin is connected from the outside in by the epidermis, dermis, subcutaneous fat, then the SMAS layer below that, and finally the muscle.

The epidermis is the skin surface visible to our eyes, and the dermis is the skin layer directly below the epidermis, about 1–2 mm thick.
The dermis beneath it contains protein fibers called collagen and elastin intertwined like a net, which are responsible for skin texture, and pores, sweat glands, and sebaceous glands are all located here as well.
The subcutaneous fat layer is located about 3–4 mm below the dermis. As the name suggests, it is where fat cells gather, and it plays a role in absorbing external impact and maintaining body temperature.
Below that, at a depth of about 4.5 mm, is the SMAS layer, and Shurink sends energy precisely here.

Why is the SMAS layer important?
Then you may also wonder why the SMAS layer, where Shurink acts, is so important.
The SMAS layer is a thin membrane about 1 mm thick located between the subcutaneous fat and the muscle, and it has a structure that wraps around the muscle.
Even though it is very thin, it is a very important area that serves as an internal support structure for the face.

When we are young, the SMAS layer elastically connects the skin and muscle firmly. However, as we age, this membrane gradually stretches due to gravity and repeated muscle movement.
When the SMAS layer sags like this, the fat and skin above it can also come down, which means the support structure that holds up the skin itself has collapsed.
In general, facelift surgery performed in plastic surgery clinics works by pulling and fixing this SMAS layer.
That is why the SMAS layer must first be made elastic again so that the skin layers above it can also be maintained more stably.

What are the effects?
Now let’s talk more deeply about the effects of Shurink.
These can be divided into two types: immediate effects and delayed effects.
From right after the treatment up to about two weeks, a certain degree of immediate effect appears. The heat causes the SMAS layer to contract momentarily, briefly tightening the tissue.

So even visually, you may feel that things have lifted a bit.
However, the real effects become more noticeable after 1 to 2 months. As mentioned earlier, this is because the damaged tissue recovers from the heat and goes through the process of producing new collagen.
These newly created collagen fibers strengthen the skin structure, allowing you to gradually feel the effects more clearly.
Although it varies from person to person, the effect usually lasts about 6 months, so many people receive it once or twice a year.

Today, I explained the principle and effects of Yeongdeungpo Shurink, along with the skin layer where Shurink acts.
I hope this article was at least a little helpful in understanding the deep layers of the skin and Shurink.
Before proceeding, I recommend getting thorough counseling first, understanding your skin condition accurately, and then receiving treatment at a place that creates a customized treatment plan and explains it in detail.
