"To be honest, I had a mole removed very cheaply before,
but it came back,
so I’m honestly worried it might happen again this time..."
Through the experiences or reviews of people around you, you may have often heard stories that moles came back even after removal. It may even be your own experience as you read this.
It is only natural to feel drained when you put in the time and effort to remove a mole, only to find that it still hasn’t been resolved, and I completely understand how frustrating that can be.
Meanwhile, the mole-removal field is also one where price competition is especially intense. Because of that, many people tend to think of moles as a simple procedure that can just be removed cheaply at a nearby place.
So today, I’ll cover in more depth the points to keep in mind during mole removal at a Yeongdeungpo dermatology clinic, the issue of recurrence, and even my personal thoughts on endless price competition.

Not all moles are the same
First, the most important thing in mole removal is to properly distinguish the type and depth of the mole.
This is because something that looks like a mole at first glance may not actually be a mole, and even if the shape looks similar, the root or type can vary widely.

Moles come in many forms, from moles located only thinly on the surface of the skin to moles that are deeply situated in the dermis, as well as intradermal nevi that extend even deeper into the dermal layer.
There are also forms such as age spots and Ota nevus, where pigment is thickly deposited, making treatment more difficult.

The distinction and assessment of these various pigment issues become more accurate when medical staff examine them directly and then analyze them again using specialized equipment.
Skin analysis device (Mark-Vu)
Laser devices are usually used for mole removal. A laser is ultimately light, and the depth at which it penetrates the skin varies depending on its wavelength.
In the case of a mole located lightly on the skin surface, it may be possible to remove it easily with a laser of a shorter wavelength.
A ruby laser commonly used for shallow mole removal
On the other hand, for a mole located deeper, a laser with a longer wavelength that can deliver energy to that depth is needed for better results.
PicoSure/PicoPlus lasers also used for deep mole removal
That is why it is important to properly diagnose the mole first and then proceed with removal accordingly, so that good results can be achieved. This also affects the recurrence issues discussed next.

Why moles recur after removal
Next, let’s look at why moles recur after removal.
When a mole comes back, it can largely be divided into two causes.
First, the mole may not have been completely removed.
Just because the visible mole has disappeared does not mean that the root of the mole has definitely been removed as well.
Intradermal nevus
In particular, for deeply situated moles such as the intradermal nevus or compound nevus mentioned earlier, if the procedure is finished using a device intended for shallow moles, the pigment left at the base may rise again and recur.
That said, trying to remove it deeply all at once from the start increases the risk of scarring due to damage to the surrounding tissue, so it is better to remove it gradually over multiple sessions.
This is why an accurate mole diagnosis, setting the number of treatment sessions, and observing the progress are so important.
Compound nevus
Next, there may have been issues with aftercare.
After the procedure, a scab remains at the site.
Because this scab is a natural process that protects the newly forming skin, forcibly peeling it off or irritating it creates an environment where pigmentation is more likely to remain in the skin that is still healing.

That is why it is important to apply regenerative tape and replace it every 1 to 2 days, allowing the scab to fall off naturally.
If this is neglected, it can lead to treatment marks lasting longer or the color of the newly forming skin becoming patchy.

My personal thoughts on endless price competition
While writing about mole removal procedures, I can’t really leave this out, so I’m including it here.

These days, the competition in ultra-low-cost mole removal procedures is so intense that if you skip buying even one drink from a convenience store, you could remove several moles instead.
I think it is positive that lower price burdens have expanded opportunities to address skin concerns, but I have some doubts when it comes to the diagnostic process using equipment and the issue of recurrence that I mentioned earlier.
To generate enough profit at a very low price, the diagnostic process and time are likely to be reduced, and the importance of post-procedure follow-up also tends to be downplayed.

Also, if only shallow moles are being treated, a small number of laser devices may be enough, but to effectively remove moles at various depths, sufficient equipment is essential.
So if the price is extremely cheap, these important elements may not be fully in place, which is why I do not recommend choosing a clinic based only on price.
Whether you have one mole or two, I recommend first looking for a place that carefully examines the mole and explains its condition, provides a detailed plan for which device will be used and over how many sessions, and also considers post-procedure follow-up.

The important points in mole removal at a Yeongdeungpo dermatology clinic are mole diagnosis, proper use of devices suited to the problem, and follow-up observation.
When all of these align well, the risk of recurrence that many people worry about can be reduced.
So based on what I shared today, I hope you can set your own criteria for choosing a mole removal clinic.
In particular, if you carefully check the consultation and diagnosis process, the scale of the clinic, and the skin analysis equipment, I believe it will lay the foundation for results you can be satisfied with.
